Somewhere along the way, weddings started being planned for photos instead of the actual experience of getting married surrounded by people you love.
The goal was never supposed to be getting published, the focus should always be the experiences.
Fully present. Laughing with your friends. Hugging your family. Actually living the day instead of wondering how it looks.
Seems obvious, but it gets lost in the sea of Pinterest mood boards.
As wedding professionals, I think it’s a bit on our shoulders to help usher in a meaningful way of doing things.
And look, I get it. I was once pretty headstrong about getting my work published. It’s what I craved as an artist & my couples wanted it at the time, too. Many of them even hired me because of it.
Looking back, I don’t think that era served real, in the moment experiences very well.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot more about what actually makes a wedding feel good to live through.
