Taking a photo is only the first half of the process to creating an exceptional photograph or to create a particular look and feel. There is just as much creativity in post processing than there is to actually taking a picture.

So with the drastic change in 2020 and the lack of weddings, I’ve turned my focus to developing my own set of presets after receiving so much interest from my photo community over the years! I’m still in the testing phase and I'm spending a lot of time putting together an educational guide to go along with these presets, which I think is of major value, but stay tuned!

White tents are my new ideal summer or fall "indoor" option because you're still somewhat outside, the white top allows for natural light to fill the space, and it can actually create a bit of needed shade. What do you guys think about a white tent?? /////

Super excited for Conor + Rebecca to say their 'I do's' today! It won't be the dream wedding they had planned on for this year. Instead they will gather with a couple special people by their side for a small ceremony by the water. And at the end of the day they will be married + that's the most important part! ////
July is usually one of my busiest months of the season, but this year looked a bit different. All of my work has been put on hold or postponed and I haven’t shot a wedding or done a session since FEBRUARY! This week I was able to finally do a few sessions with clients, and OMG did I need it.

I was definitely nervous to leave my home, meet up with new folks, wear a mask during the sessions, remember all the new covid rules, and get my creative juices flowing again. But things went amazingly well! I’m feeling extra grateful and fulfilled this week! (And so so happy to have things to edit again — my favorite part!!😍) //////
Anyone else finding themselves scrolling through their favorite online store way too often??? Help!!! It's mostly a problem because I really don't need any more sun dresses or funky booties to sit on my couch in, even if they are 50% off. ( ... pjs and sweatsuits sets are a different story!) //////
Instagram has been a hard space to be in lately. I'm sure most people are feeling a bit of that in some way or another. But for me, as a wedding photographer, it's felt uncomfortable or tone deaf to go back to posting blissfully happy, brightly colored wedding photos on this platform during such a heavy time in the world. But maybe that's what we need more of? I'm not sure. I know people likely feel differently on this topic, but that's why, for me, I've been more quiet than normal.

How are you guys feeling about social media lately? Are you here to feel connected, to learn, and to talk about real issues ... or is this a place of distraction and/or inspiration for you? I'm genuinely curious + would love to hear your thoughts. //////
Silence can be deafening and it's time to speak up. One of the biggest take aways over the last few days for me has been that it's not enough to just believe that you're not racist. We must speak up for and support the black community who are dealing with horrific injustices every day.
I won't pretend to understand any black person's struggle or experiences, but I am listening and I want to do better. We must all do better. As a white female I know the privilege I've had my whole life, and while I may not have understood it entirely until more recently, white privilege is most definitely a real thing. I don't have many words right now and I don't want to take away from the powerful messages from the people that deserve to be heard most, but I know there is a severe inequality in our society and it is not okay. I need to educate myself more, keep listening, and find ways to show support. @ Seattle, Washington
All of my weddings for the next few months may be postponed and I'm struggling to find ways to productively fill each day while stuck inside, but I'm counting my blessings because at least I have Tiger King on Netflix and these bright photos from last Spring over on the blog to keep me going today!! ////

Social distancing & not gathering in groups larger than 10 has obviously had a direct impact on the event industry, as most other industries!

My heart is heavy thinking of all of my spring and summer couples dealing with the uncertainty surrounding their wedding days, as well as all of their vendors who are now out of work. These are unsettling times for us all. Let's lean into each other (from afar), lift one another up in spirit, & hope our actions now will have a positive impact for everyone!! ///////
