The Milky Way has over 200 billion stars.
The Milky Way is only a medium sized galaxy with an estimated 200 billion stars. The largest galaxy we know of is called IC 1101 and has over 100 trillion stars ✨
Jennie Hyun Kim is an LA-based lifestyle photographer who grew up in the suburbs east of Los Angeles Jennie H. I capture and reflect.
Kim, a.k.a Jennie Jen, a.k.a Hugs, is a freelance photographer born in Baltimore, MD. “I am very good at capturing moments that allow people to “feel” my photography. I am an intuitive individual who naturally and easily connects with individuals creating more intimate moments as a visual art form.” While spending her younger years in Houston TX, she was ultimately raised and shaped through vari
ous parts of Southern California – “My affection towards LA has had a bipolar affect on me. One day I’m in love while the next I am in utter hate. Either way, the city is a super complex sub-culture machine, you can live here for years and still not know anything about it. Everything shifts and changes rapidly so you really have to be observant to your surroundings and adaptable to change. By sharing my vision, I hope to give you an alternative perspective. A perspective into my world and the way that I observe it.”
Jen has an infatuation for all forms of art aside from photography including: the art of dance, music, graffiti/street, culinary, cinematography – all things aesthetic. Her appreciation for all forms of self-expression allows her to identify with individuals who share this common space and through these intimate connections of sharing and participating – She spreads the knowledge and love 360 degrees around. “I give and take. I love and hate!”
Her exposure to the underground scene began in the 80′s through hip-hop, punk rock, ska, house, reggae, jazz, blues, graffiti, skate, dance and photography (just to name a few); therefore, these influences have had an impact on her sense of style and attitude and still plays a significant part of her life. “I respect those who respect others and within my subculture of cultures — respect goes a long way. LA holds an art culture that has manifested its way deep from within its roots and constantly flourishes. You’re either intrigued by the people, the scene, the vibes, energy or repelled by it. Despite the lack of respect, the uneducated and constant scrutiny within the scene, I still choose to be a part of this culture. Welcome to my universe!”
LOVE & HATE
Love & Hate Photography documents culture, street and family life. Although Jen lives in the LA area she traverses the earth and documents life as she sees it around her.
“I am here to create, collaborate, aggravate, but definitely won’t tolerate individuals that lag, flake, or disrupt my flow.”
With Love ♥ & Hate,
Jennie Jen

“Nature . . . is inexorable and immutable; she never transgresses the laws imposed upon her, nor cares a whit whether her abstruse reasons and methods of operations are understandable to men” - Galileo Galilei (Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina, 1615)
I captured this amazing photos in Joshua tree last week. I’ve been obsessed with chasing the Milky Way for a few years now and let me tell you it’s not easy as there are a lot of factors involved. I’m thinking about setting up a workshop taking 3 to 4 individuals with me on a trip teaching them how to shoot the Milky Way. Would anyone be interested? DM if you would be interested in learning how to capture breathtaking photos of the in August.
Desert vibes 🌵🏜
Wildlife in Catalina. “In 1924, approximately 14 bison were brought to the island for the filming of a movie that they didn’t end up being in. When the film crew left, the bison were left behind and have been on the landscape ever since,” said Julie King, director of conservation and wildlife management at the Catalina Island Conservancy.
Currently, 120 bison remain on the island.
Be sure to hike when you’re in Catalina. Catalina Island is made for exploring, with more than 165 miles of trails and endless breathtaking views. (permits required).
Built under the direction of William Wrigley, Jr., the iconic building was designed by Sumner A. Spaulding and Walter Webber as the first circular building of its time. Restored to its original condition, the Art Deco and Mediterranean Revival building is a stunning reminder of Catalina’s glorious past.
There’s a whole other part to Catalina not everyone gets to know. I took an eco tour and learned so much about the island that I never knew before. If you ever go and haven’t already, look into the history of Catalina Island I highly recommend taking the eco tour, ask for Tom he was a great tour guide! 🦬
Santa Catalina, one of California’s Channel Islands. It's known for its wildlife, dive sites and Mt. Orizaba, its highest peak.
There are some places in the world upon entering it’s realm you feel it’s powerful energy pull you in. It’s an uplifting, indescribable feeling that can bring tears to your eyes. This is one of them! Life elevated 🤘

No darkness can overcome light ✨ I want to give a shout out to my honey. Thank you for enduring the hardships of what it takes to get these shots, the odd hours of the night, the freezing cold temperatures the complete darkness. But most importantly thank you for the adventures and memories 😘 Love you to the moon and back.
Sun setting on the Watchman and Virgin River at Junction Bridge. An iconic view where many gather to watch and/or photograph in Zion. Different edits create different moods which is your favorite?

Street art at its finest! This is so impactful and profound!!! Artist Simone Leigh has painted a massive tribute to Black Lives Matter on the street leading to the White House in Washington, D.C. Completed in permanent street paint with the assistance of numerous volunteers, activists, and DC city employees, the message features bold, yellow letters that span more than a block of 16th Street and marks a historic moment in the US after weeks of protests.

Ella Fitzgerald was not allowed to perform in Hollywood's most popular nightclub, The Mocambo, because of her race and body size. Marilyn Monroe, who was a big fan, called the owner and explained that if he booked Ella, she would be there every night, which guaranteed huge press coverage. He booked Ella and Marilyn was there, front table, every single night as promised. Ella said, "after that, I never had to play a small jazz club again. She was an unusual woman, a little ahead of her time, and she didn’t even know it.”
I wanted to share this beautiful, positive and inspiring story and the beauty of unification. Stand together, love together, grow together. One ❤️
