It’s been exactly three decades since I first met and have commissioned the talents of the amazing Los Angeles,-based photographer Blake Little whom I consider to be a very dear friend. Collaborating on literally dozens of celebrity covers for numerous magazines (Alicia Silverstone, Judith Light, Aaron Eckhart, Eduardo Verastegui, Sônia Braga, David Geffen, Karina Smirnoff, Kenny Scharf, Jeffrey Katzenberg and countless others), Blake is unquestionably on top of his game. Here, we’re in LA on a super secret collab (you’ll see the mystery subject very soon).💯

Spent a long, fantastic day with ‘Dancing With The Stars’ OG Queen, Karina Smirnoff, in Beverly Hills. Photographer Blake Little shot the amazing images, Eduardo A. Renta supplied the luxe location and Kathleen Gates designed another stunning cover. I really liked Karina a lot and we all created pure magic.

My last completed issue as Editor in Chief of ‘ELLIMAN’ magazine was one of my favorites: The Art Issue, featuring Kenny Scharf on the cover. The brilliant Kevin Sessums wrote an extraordinary story on Scharf (and Warhol, Haring and Basquiat), photographed in Hollywood by my longtime buddy Blake Little and designed by the incomparable Creative Director Kathleen Gates of Gates Sisters Studio. What a truly beautiful, perfectly executed experience. I remain so damn proud of my amazing teammates and our stellar, groundbreaking work.

Blake Little’s photography is ahhhhhhhmazing. His book Preservation features subjects covered in honey (I realize some vegans will lose their minds over this). I’m not sure if copies of the book are still available, but prints of the images are. Check out more about this series at:

Honey fact: Some ancient cultures used honey in embalming procedures. It’s always appropriate to leave offerings of honey at a gravesite. In addition, the folklore of a number of societies indicates that a blend of honey and milk is an acceptable offering to deity. In particular, honey is sacred to Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.
Art Critic Shana Nys Dambrot wrote a great piece about the show for KCET Artbound. What a nice prelude to Thursday evenings artist talk. details: https://www.facebook.com/events/1020144994665876/

The results are pretty sweet.
