Well, I just finished my first interior drone flight in a waste recycling facility. It was hair-raising, and I ended up crashing two drones. First, my Mini 3 Pro and then my Avata, after I was trying to fly through a narrow shoot, and the Avata got stuck 20ft high behind some pipe. I thought the shoot was toast, but we managed to get it out and finish the shoot.

There is a lot I would do differently and I think I need to learn a lot more going forward.

I shot this recent industrial photography job for Magnetic Metals. The factory had lots of grimy scenes typical of all manufacturing facilities. So, these images needed extensive cleanup to make them usable.

For instance, the windows of the cutting machines were covered with schmutz and grime, so I had to shoot several plates to make the windows transparent, otherwise, the cutting process was not visible through the windows and it would have been impossible to light.

I had to shoot plates on almost every single image with people and machines in them to be able to demonstrate the process for the client. It was not all photojournalism.

In the end, the CEO sent me a message that the industrial photography was way better than he was expecting. Made me happy.

I would have loved to have flow a drone through the factory and am still waiting for the right opportunity to do this.

Well, the future is now here. Ugh... Sooner than I thought it would. It is not adapt or die for many of us.

It will still be some time before AI becomes so commonplace that secretaries can use it but it is almost here.

I think the first thing to go will be portraits and still-life photography with only high-end corporate photography remaining but I have been wrong before.

It occurred to me recently what an amazing life I had as a photojournalist. I didn't make much money but I always had enough to go to the next country and the next thrill. I could not buy the experiences that I was given.

I had women, thrills, and the admiration of my colleagues and that was enough at the time. Now, a family, a meaningful life, a cat, and the respect of my friends are enough for me; mostly.

Just did a job for a startup pharma tech company. I shot transparent and stainless steel products for the first time but I used the tutelage from Anthony Nex from previous shoots to get me through this shoot.

It was way more work than I thought it would be.

A collection of some of the most interesting images from my corporate event photography assignments. These images are notable because corporate events are typically not terribly visually interesting.

Ha, recently scored 93% on my FAA Part 107 test. The course was harder than the test but it was rewarding. So now I can fly drones for money.

Thanks, Pilot Institute, for the great 107 Course. More to come.

I did an industrial photography assignment for the earthmoving company Liu Gong last year but delayed posting until now. Turned out pretty cool.

They show me a style that they like and then just cut me loose. No art director. Just me and a crew including a drone operator, a videographer, and my assistant.

These are some detail shots I have made from pharmaceutical photo assignments. My clients never ask for them, but they are always grateful for making these images because they have a long shelf life.

Recently finished a project for Relativity Space. They asked me to shoot 25ft tall 3d printer that they use to print rocket ship housings and parts. Super cool project and to date it was the most technically difficult project I have done:
