It was a hot Saturday on September 22, 2012. Temperatures reported to have reached high 90's. We had been talking about going to the LA Zoo for some time, a couple years to be exact. I wanted Chris' first experience to be memorable, which is the reason I decided to wait until he was 3 years old for us to go. The experience was great considering the heat. I bought the kids water fan sprays to keep cool. I packed my Canon 7D and my 18-135mm lens, went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast, and surprised the kids when I pulled up to the Zoo's public parking lot. Enjoy the photos.

This is by far my favorite image ever captured to date. To top it off it was my first attempt at a panorama. I took 9 different frames and stitched them together in Photoshop CS5. I set my camera in manual mode with the following settings: iso100, F/22, shutter speed at 1/4, and lens was at it's minimum 17mm distance. The camera used was a Canon 7D, lens was a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8.
