This last week has not been the calm, serene start to the year that I had hoped it would be. It’s been quite the opposite, to say the least.
I always look forward to January after the madness that is September through December. Between the height of wedding season, end-of-the-year family photos, and then the holly jolly holidays, those last few months end up being a total blur of (somewhat organized) chaos.
This is normally when I can finally breathe and come up for air. Not this time around… One of the fires got a little too close last week and I scrambled to pack up as much as possible. Watch Duty and I became very close very quickly. The worst didn’t happen, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
I’ve already made a contribution to the LAFD Foundation and will be volunteering to help haul & distribute donations. The amount of aid that’s needed is staggering, but this seems like a good place to start.
THANK YOU to all of the firefighters and first responders that have been working so tirelessly.
THANK YOU to all of the volunteers and community efforts to help all of our neighbors.
And THANK YOU to everyone who checked in, offered a place to stay, and made a scary situation better.
LA is where I was born and raised, and, though it can be trying at times, it’s where I’m proud to call home. Much love! ✨
