One of the biggest challenges of taking grad photos during the commencement week is avoiding people in the background. We had to move fast, sweet talk people into giving us 1-minute windows to shoot, go to the Rose Garden (but it was still crowded), and at times, I just had to do some serious photoshopping! Overall, I think did pretty good!

2017 has been a very special year to me. At the end of summer, I packed my 5 years worth of stuffs into 4 luggages and moved to St. John’s, where I started my master’s program, made my choral conducting debut, “co-directed” a flashmob, presented a 🎶 research project in the style of business presentation, and met many incredibly kind, supportive and talented people who made me felt so welcomed and loved on ‘the rock’. I’ve also travelled quite a bit this year. I went home for the first time in 5 years for Chinese New Year, took a 22 days long semi-roadtrip from Central Valley of California to Monterey, SF and La La Land with , explored many hipster-IG-spots in Toronto with , and more. I also ventured outside of my grad photos business and started doing lifestyle/conceptual and events photoshoots, purchased a domain for my website, and ironically, this was also the first fall I was too busy that I didn’t do any grad photos at all. Looking back on 2017, I realized I’ve had many ‘changes’ and ‘first’s’ – and I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support system in my life! ❤️
As the year comes to an end, I can’t help but reflect on some of the favourite images/events I’ve taken/experienced this year. friends and cheers to an even better #2018! 🎉🎉

Can’t believe tonight will be my last night in Guelph after 5 years. With 4 last minute and unplanned photoshoots (thank you SO much for accommodating to my schedule and to even shoot in cloudy/rainy days!), packing and donating stuff, I’ve been quite overwhelmed. But now that I’ve done most of my packing, a plethora of emotions start to kick in. . . Excited for the new chapter of life; sad for leaving this second home; proud for the different milestones I’ve achieved here; and of course, nervous for the bigger challenges ahead of me. . . But most importantly, I feel grateful. To the all those I met here, sung with, photoshoot with, cooked with, gossiped with, laughed with, and the list goes on, THANK YOU! I’m a freelance photographer based in Los Angeles, CA.

four years ago when I was doing my summer internship at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, AB. There were multiple occasions when I tried to text my mom about the Canadian Rockies, Lac Beauvert (the lake right in front of the hotel, the photo below), and the fun day trips. I've also tried writing Facebook statuses. But I guess I'm not really a writer. I ended up deleting them because I felt like there's something (in fact a lot of things) missing in the descriptive words. That's when I started taking more photos and getting more into the art of it.

My goal is to create photos that speak to the photographer, the subject, and the audience. I want to capture your true character and emotions. Years from now, I want you to look at your photographs and have all of those memories come flooding back.
