Los Angeles Center of Photography The Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) is dedicated to supporting photographers and the photographic arts.

The mission of the Los Angeles Center of Photography is to build a community of dedicated photographers and to strengthen the importance of photography as an art form. This is achieved by providing education, scholarships, grants, exhibits, public programs and events, focused programming for youth and low-income families, and community outreach.

SPOTLIGHT CLASS: The Wet Plate Collodion Workshop with Allan Barnes!

📆 Dates: Saturday-Sunday, July 25-26, 10 am – 4 pm PT
⭐️ In-Person - Two sessions

Participants will use large format period-correct cameras to explore the craftsmanship of tintypes and ambrotypes. After a brief historical discussion of the process, students will be trained in the coating, exposure, development and preservation of the photographic plate.

Join us Introduction to Studio Lighting with Hugh Kretschmer!

📆 Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 14-30, 7 pm – 10 pm PT
📍 In-Person Learning – Six Sessions

In this workshop, students will gain a solid foundation of studio lighting and practical knowledge of light. Working hands-on with the equipment, participants will learn how to select the proper light source for their subjects whether shooting portraits, still life or product.

Gina Cholick’s image Journey is now on view in the Magic of Light Show downtown Los Angeles at Art/Space 114 through June 20th. She also recently showed two images from her new series, Body Memory at PH21 Gallery in Barcelona as part of their Significant Colour show.

Gina Cholick is a Pasadena based photographer and artist. Working in self-portraiture, her practice explores liminal spaces, fleeting emotions and who we are beneath the surface of daily life.
