I could have had a perfectly nice day until I made a silly mistake that landed me in the dirt (again). I could have had perfectly nice legs until I started banging them up through various equine-related mishaps (first incident: age 8, most recent incident: last week). I could have had an unchallenging emotional life and a stable bank account. This sport/hobby/lifestyle asks so much of us. The math does not math.

But the math doesn’t account for this face…

Happy 4th of July from me and Fuzzy!

Patriotism can feel complicated when you don’t agree with the direction of our national government and you feel the need to apologize every time you’re abroad.

But I’m grateful for the American experiment that began circa 1776 and I still believe in the promise of America.

And yes I know this song is not technically about 4th of July but I love the clarity and power in her voice. 🇺🇸
