I’ve really been getting into my lighting bag lately, especially on film sets. For a long time, I was honestly intimidated by lighting. I understood it, but not in a way that felt fully mine.
Now I’m starting to see it differently. Shaping light is problem solving. Every setup is a new question, and every shoot makes you sharper.
As a photographer, it’s given me a new level of confidence.
As a director, it’s made me more precise. I can communicate what I actually see in my head.
Because how can you direct at the highest level if you don’t fully understand the tools?
My goal is to be fluent in every part of the process, from pre-production to post.
Sharpening the tools, one day at a time.
Onwards and upwards.
