Loving this shot so much. A lot of my friends that work in hospitality have started their own businesses over the last few years, and it’s always a pleasure getting to help them with my photography.

My friend is a bartender and started his own line of bitters. I’ve never known much about making cocktails, but he explained to me what bitters are and allowed me to try a few cocktails during our shoot. I definitely recommend his products for those of you that like making your own cocktails.

It’s always fun collaborating with a food stylist to see what we come up with over a few hours. You wouldn’t necessarily know we were working with all our equipment in a small corner of a living room to achieve this shot, but we made it work.

Trying to get lots of editing done while dealing with this heat wave 🙄

Here is another shot taken on location earlier this year. This one was especially difficult to style and photograph. Although I love samosas I had a hard time finding props that worked well with them. and I tried multiple options before landing on this one, and i really like how it turned out in the end.

Time to pack up my studio to go on location for another client shoot tomorrow. After a full week of working alone on my computer it’ll be nice to go out and work as part of a team. Some of my favorite images have come from working with a team, and I’m always happy to work with other creatives on a photo shoot.

Catching up on some editing today after a long week of shooting. I’ve gotten a lot of great shots recently that I’m excited for my clients to start sharing, and i have another fun photo shoot coming up this week. What are all of you up to?

I feel like pizza is something that is really photogenic. I had been meaning to make some pizza myself for a test shoot, but never got around to it. Now over the last few months I’ve gotten to photograph pizza for two different clients and really love the photos we’ve taken.

This one was fun because of all the variety of toppings and colors, and for the other project the food stylist helped me get some great shots of the perfect cheese pull. I can’t wait for the client to start sharing those soon.

Test shoots are always a good opportunity to try out some new lighting and styling techniques. I’m not normally a big fan of hard light, but i do like dappled light in food photos. I also got to take some time to work on my food styling, since i had never styled noodles for a shot before.

This shot was such a challenge, especially since we were working with ice cream on such a hot day, but I love how perfectly it was styled by

This is still one of my favorite images from that photo shoot. You wouldn’t even know the client didn’t have the stickers on the day of the shoot and it had to be added afterwards in Photoshop.

Hard to believe we’re already more than halfway through the year. I feel like i just shot these holiday chocolate boxes for a few months ago. Soon we’ll start seeing all the holiday campaigns popping up on our feeds and hearing Mariah Carey every time we go shopping 😬

So much of my focus the last few years has been on improving my photography, but along with that I’ve been practicing and improving my food styling. I’m always learning tips and tricks when working with a food stylist on set and I try to apply what I learn to my own test shoots.

Here is one burger i styled and photographed myself. I also turned it into a GIF to post on my website and it’s what I get the most compliments on from people looking through my portfolio.

Sometimes when working on a photo shoot it’s nice to get in close with a macro lens and see what details you can find. I like to capture smaller details that might otherwise be missed, especially when photographing something with an interesting texture like this single blackberry.

Gluten free wontons 😋😊 It’s nice to have so much variety now. When I first removed gluten from my diet about 11 years ago it was so difficult to find anything I liked. I’m glad to see how far things have improved.

It’s definitely not my go to light setup, so I took some test shots on my own before this client project to figure out how to best utilize my lights in a limited space. When you’re working with ice cream, but your client wants you to showcase 15 different flavors all in one shot. This image was a lot of work and took so much compositing, but my client was so happy with the final result.

I rarely work with hard light, but i think it is good to keep learning and challenging ourselves to try something new. I shot this a few months ago in order to push myself to work with a bare bulb instead of my usual softbox. Although I’m still not a big fan of photographing with hard light, doing this gave me a better idea of how to incorporate it into future client work.
