The more Iāve studied Scripture, the more Iāve had to wrestle with something I didnāt expect.
Early on, I often felt at odds with my Catholic brothers and sisters. What started as curiosity usually turned into debateāand if Iām honest, I thought that was the point.
I donāt think that anymore.
Over time, Iāve come to appreciate that the Christian tradition is broader than I once allowed myself to see. The Catholic, Orthodox, and even Ethiopian expressions of the faith each carry a depth that Iām still learning to understand.
That doesnāt mean every difference disappears. It doesnāt mean doctrine doesnāt matter. And it certainly doesnāt mean Iām speaking about groups that deny the deity of Christ.
But it does mean this:
Christ remains at the center.
And when thatās truly understood, the way we approach one another begins to change. Less like opponents to be correctedāand more like brothers and sisters trying to faithfully understand the same Word.
Iām still learning. But Iām learning to see the Church with a little more patience, and a little more humility.
