Took a side track adventure today , White Sands National Park in New Mexico. Such a beautiful and serene place located in the middle of harsh surroundings. Was a great place to take our shoes off and ground ourselves during our cross country road trip. If your ever in NM , take time to check it out. #

June 11th adventure took us to Manitou Springs to do the Manitou Incline hike. A bucket list item for Kristie. Definitely not a hike for the faint of heart. The hike itself is 2768 steps up the mountain with a 2000 ft gain in .9 mile. Base start is 6358 ft above sea level and ends around 8500 ft. Average incline of the stairs 45 degrees and some sections at 68 degrees. There's a 41% success rate. We started at 5:20 am and crested the top at 8:20. 3 hours of steep incline. Altitude definitely plays a part in the gruelingness of this hike. Took a break to take it all in and rest. Then it was a 3 mile hike down the Barr trail. With in tself is a hard trail to navigate. With all that said we it took us a total 6 hours to finish both. We both ended up with mild altitude sickness, headaches primarily. Slept must of the rest of the day and night. Woke up this morning feeling well rested and a bit sore but nothing to major. On too the next adventure.
