When planning outfits for family photos, there are several recommendations I like to share.
Alway Consider: where will you be displaying these photos? If youβre planning to hang these photos throughout your house, it is definitely worth thinking about what colors will look best with the style of your home. For example, bold primary-colored outfits might not fit with the light and airy beach house vibe of your living room. In that case, you might want to opt for a more pastel color palette of light blues and off whites to compliment your decor.
Coordinate outfits instead of matching: Colors that complement each other tend to photograph better rather than too many of the same color. Also, when you focus on complementary colors vs all same color, it allows foreach family member unique personality and style to show through.
Limit Patterns, such as plaids, stripes, and florals; No big logos: It is okay to have one or two people rocking a pattern shirt if the patterns are not too loud. Too much pattern can draw more attention away from the person and focus more on the outfit.
Different textures: Texture adds visual interest to your images with unique fabrics. Some examples: lace, cable knits, chambray, tweed, herringbone, chambray, faux fur, wool.
Lastly Wear What You Feel Best In! I'll never advise a family to dress in a way that is not them! At the end of the day these are your photos to cherish for years to come, I want you feel like you. So if the long flowing dress is not your style and your more of a jeans and blazer type of person then rock it, my ultimate desire is for your photos to reflect you and your family!
