There are some weddings you photograph, and there are others you feel lucky enough to be a part of.

Whitney and Trevor’s Destination Colorado Springs Wedding at Hillside Gardens was filled with the kind of moments that can’t be staged—the happy tears, the belly laughs, the hugs from family + friends, and all the little in-between moments that made their day completely theirs.

Wedding Photography is about so much more than beautiful images. It’s about preserving how it felt to be there.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget this Maternity Session.

The rain came down hard. The kind of rain that usually sends everyone running for cover or reaching for their phone to reschedule.

But not this mama.

She grabbed her rain boots, umbrella, and trusted me. So we just . . . went with it.

We got soaked. We laughed. We danced in the middle of a Texas rainstorm, and somewhere in all of that, we forgot about perfect.

Looking back, I don’t think the rain ruined a thing. I think it gave us something we never could’ve planned.

It’s funny how the moments that seem to go “wrong” are often the ones that end up meaning the most.

Photography isn’t about impressing people.

It’s about paying attention.

It’s about noticing what pulls at you, what stays with you, what you can’t help but frame and preserve.

Every photograph reveals something—not just about the world in front of the lens, but about the person behind it.

I invested + attended Sami Jo Photography 🦋 workshop the other evening - not just to become a better photographer, but to better understand my voice as an artist. To slow down, be intentional, and dig deeper into what I’m trying to say through my work.

Because mastering the technical side of photography is one thing.

Learning who you are behind the camera is something else entirely different.

Photography has taught me that the camera isn’t just a tool for documenting the world. It’s a way of paying attention to it.

And the more attention you pay, the more you learn about what moves you, what matters to you, and how you see the people around you.

Maybe that’s why I love it so much.

Not because it helps me SHOW others who I am, but rather it helps me DISCOVER who I am.
