I always love December 1st and the excitement that comes with putting up our homemade advent calendar and beginning to count down the days until Christmas. Many advent calendars have tiny doors that you open to find a surprise behind them each day, and I love the symbolism that comes with opening those little doors each day in anticipation of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. It reminds me of this scripture: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him.”—Revelation 3:20 The holiday season can get so busy and hectic so fast, but I hope that with with each passing day this month leading up to Christmas, we can each remember to slow down, be still, and open the doors of our hearts to Jesus Christ and feel His spirit and peace in our homes daily during the Christmas season.

S'mores for your end of summer Sunday morning 🍫 I just love this time of year when cool breezes are blowing and leaves are barely starting to turn color and autumn is sooo close you can almost taste it, but the warmth and sunny days of summer are still hanging on by a single golden thread. The last time I was living in Logan and experiencing a true fall season, with colorful leaves and cool weather and the Pumpkin Walk was 6 years ago, so I am beyond excited to be back this autumn!

Throwing it wayyy back to one of my very first attempts at food photography a few years ago. At the time, I didn’t have a clue that background surfaces for food photography existed. Somehow I assumed that the only way to have a marble background in my photos was to buy a real marble cutting board from Crate and Barrel. It was 16x20'', almost an inch thick and felt like it weighed 50 pounds. After lugging it around as I styled the cookies and milk for this shoot, I thought to myself, “Surely there has to be a better way!" Thankfully later on, I did find much more lightweight options for faux marble and other backgrounds!

Nothing says "perfectly imperfect" more than melty ice cream! This photo came about in a very spontaneous, unplanned way--after shooting some perfectly frozen scoops of ice cream I decided to see if I could make an interesting photo with them on a different background even though they were melting all over the place. Ultimately this photo turned out to be my very favorite!
