"My son's turning 20, so that's where we are now. Adults."
That's what Frances told us before her "Then and Now" session, and you could hear it in her voice. Equal parts pride and something a little more bittersweet.
Back in 2022, she brought Dylan in before his senior year. He wasn't exactly begging for a photoshoot, but he showed up for his mom, because that's what he does.
This time, Dylan came back at 20, about to move out and start building his own life.
We recreated the poses from three years ago, same couch, same corner of the studio.
"We haven't had any photos like this since before he graduated high school, and now he's out. You know, he's out."
That's the whole story in one sentence. A mom watching her kid become an adult, grateful and proud and a little unmoored all at once.
This is why we love photographing our Then and Now families. It's never just about the photos. It's about standing in the same spot years apart and seeing exactly how far you've come, in black and white.
Frances and Dylan, thank you for letting us tell your story. 🖤
