We took a day trip to Tuskegee, Alabama today and stepped back in time to the 1940s. What an awesome experience to see where the actually started. Also went by the Historic Tuskegee Institute and saw Booker T Washington’s house. Very cool day.

Well, we knew April could bring snow showers to Colorado Springs and decided to come anyway. It’s been a great week of medical appointments, meetings and catching up with long-time friends. And the cool part is by the time we pull out next week, it will be Spring again…

We’ve had some interesting RV sites lately. We were stationary for over a month while we went to Cozumel twice and to visit Jodi’s mom between those two trips, then spent a week at an RV resort on Galveston Island and participated in a rally benefitting veterans and first responders, spent a couple of days near San Antonio meeting up with long-time family friends, to our current location on a cattle ranch just north of Harper, TX. And there’s lots of cow patties and cacti all over the place, so much that we went to a hardware store yesterday and bought a shovel.

We’re currently boon-docking, which is to say we’re camping without electricity, water or sewer hookups. We are truly self-contained. The idea was to let the solar panels recharge the batteries today but there’s a slight problem with that plan. It rained all morning and the sun hasn’t come back out yet. Good thing we invested in a generator. We just got back from a walk around the property and let Cayleigh get used to her new rugged boots. With all the mud and cacti, they are really necessary.

Tomorrow, we’re meeting a dear friend’s parents who live nearby for church and lunch afterwards. We just continue building memories as we go. Now, I think it’s time to fire up that generator for a bit.

Is is what we’ve been doing this weekend.

Is is what we’ve been doing this weekend.

A retired military veteran, Clay Wiggins and his wife, Maria, have spent nearly two years living full-time in an RV, trading a stationary life for one defined by movement, community

Well, the weather foreguessers say we’re going down to 29°F tonight so I decided it’s finally time to get serious about figuring out how to plug the truck in for the block warmer. After a little research, it was really pretty simple. I probably don’t need that level of protection tonight, but it is nice to know that it’s there. We’re gonna head a little further south tomorrow and see if we can’t warm things up just a little bit.

So, a Texas State Trooper just pulled into the campground and dropped off another trooper, then left. Seems we have a trooper for a neighbor. Guess we’d better behave…
