Mr. & Mrs. Owens 💕

Gabbie and Cage said “I do” at 11 a.m., surrounded by their closest family. It was the sweetest morning filled with happy tears, laughter, and so much love. Far from a conventional wedding, it was perfectly "them." Simple, sweet, and focused on what mattered most.

I say this every time, I truly don't photograph many weddings anymore. But when Gabbie asked if I'd photograph hers, there was no way I could say no.

I met Gabbie years ago when I boarded my horse on her family's farm. She was only 15 or 16 at the time, and I had the opportunity to photograph her senior portraits. Now, getting to photograph her as a bride? 🥹 She's always been gorgeous, but I mean... COME ON. She was absolutely stunning!

Thank you, Gabbie and family, for letting me be a small part of such a special day 🤍

Sometimes a review comes in at exactly the right time.

Fall is one of my busiest seasons. The days are getting shorter, the calendar is full, and the to-do list never ends. It's easy to get caught up in the work and forget to appreciate what I've built.

We photographed Josephine's senior portraits over the summer, and her mom's review was a good reminder of why I put so much into every session.

From planning outfits to making clients feel comfortable, so much happens beyond the time spent taking photos. And once the session is over, hours of editing and perfecting each image still lie ahead.

I want every client to feel cared for, never rushed or like they're just another session on my calendar. Hearing that they do means more than they know.

Thank you for trusting me with your memories. 🤍

I get it. Photoshoots aren’t always easy.

They take preparation, time, energy, and yes… sometimes a decent chunk of money. So I think it’s important to put myself in my clients’ shoes, and I make a point to do that every year.

Not only do I want photos (because, hello… I’m a photographer 😂), but I also want to experience the process from the other side so I can help my clients prepare as well as possible.

You learn best by doing, so here we are.

Here are my best tips in the shortest amount of words possible, because I know nobody has time to read a novel:

First: you know your horse best.

What works for my horse may not work for yours. For Mozzie, I choose to do most of his prep the morning of the photoshoot. He stays relatively clean, and he’s happiest when his routine stays as normal as possible.

Our morning started with a ride (he was a little fresh today 😅), followed by a bath, then turnout while I cross my fingers that he stays clean.

And there’s actually a lot you can get done while you’re waiting for your horse to dry.

I use that time to clean whatever tack I’ll be using, wash my brushes, clean his fly boots, and knock out all those little things that are easy to forget.

Once Mozzie is ready, I head to the office and get some work done. It’s busy season over here, but I wasn’t about to turn down fall photos of my own family. 🤷‍♀️

In a few hours, I’ll comb the dogs (because obviously they’re coming too), get myself ready, and hopefully remember everything I had planned. 😂

It’s a full day. But the memories, the experience, and the photos are always worth it. Not to mention they look pretty dang good hanging in my house, too. 😍

Should I do a Part 2?

These two were the cutest pair! Grace loves galloping, jumping, and everything horses. Chica loves being with her girl 💕 They made me reminisce about being 13 and horse crazy. Fast forward a few decades and I'm still horse crazy, but a little less fearless 😅
