Celebrating the Women of Lititz: Ava, Ava Ren Photography 📸✨

If you’ve ever fallen in love with a picture of Lititz, there’s a very good chance it was captured through the lens of Ava. ❤

With over two decades of experience, Ava’s iconic photography brings the magic of our town to life. Whether she’s braving the elements at the Fire & Ice Festival, capturing the glow of the Fourth of July at Lititz Springs Park, or highlighting our downtown small businesses, Ava is always there. Her passion for creating has taken her work from local studio walls all the way to national publications!

True to her roots, you can often find Ava walking around town with her camera in hand or working out of her downtown studio on Broad Street. She is a master of seeing the hidden beauty in everyday moments and freezing them in time for all of us to enjoy.

Ava, thank you for capturing the heart, soul, and beauty of Lititz! Next time you see her out and about frame-hunting, be sure to wave and say hello! 👋✨

“I think photographers see a world no one else can see. And their job is to capture that world to show everyone its beauty.” — Ava

It snowed.

In case you missed it, we got a little bit of snow here In Lititz. I set myself up in my office downtown for the long haul yesterday, capturing images from around 10:30am until after midnight.

And while I did take frequent warm-up breaks inside my cozy office, I did end up capturing almost 1100 images of the heart of Downtown Lititz in the snow.

Let's start things off with one of my favorites from last night - this shot of the storefronts of Lancaster Flower Co. and Tattered Shirt Next Chapter as cars pass by on a snow covered Broad Street.

I hope everyone is bundled up and staying warm today wherever you are. And if you don't like Winter, remember Spring is just 53 days away!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays! Let's look back at Christmas in the park - one of the most iconic community events in Lititz. This is just a small sampling of what I captured that night.

As is tradition at this point, most of these are in black and white for that timeless feel.

Affirmation.

During the last few months, my mind has been pre-occupied with changes. So many changes, in fact, that I was worried my love for photography might be among the the casualties of change. I'd not had the chance to really put the love and passion I have for my art to a real test. I thought I still loved photography, but I'd not yet confirmed it.

That was until the earliest hours of Sunday morning, where I spent more than five hours capturing photos of Lititz in the snow. And the only reason I stopped is because I was too tired to continue. By the time I finally rolled into bed and passed out from exhaustion, I'd hit just over 25 hours since I'd last been asleep.

And as I laid in bed the final thoughts of my extended day meandered into my head. And as with all the best parts of my transition - they were of affirmation. I'd proven to myself that if anything, my passion for photography has only grown. And with it, I believe a reshaping of my artistic vision has begun to emerge that more aligns with my true self.

This series means a lot to me for those reasons and more. Capturing these images hasn't just affirmed my love for photography - its been rekindled. And that affirmation extends to my transition journey as well. I feel more me than ever, and that feeling is only getting stronger each day. Photo series like this one are a part of that - they affirm who I am.

It's my honor to present these images of Lititz from the weekend snowstorm. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did creating them. Keep an eye out for more.

Warmly,
Ava

Winter colors dance in the night.

Of course I was out capturing photos of the first significant snowfall of the season here in Lititz! (did you even have to ask?) And I stayed up more than 24 hours in order to make it happen.

Editing is in progress on my next photo series - the subject of which is the aforementioned snowfall from Saturday night and Sunday morning.

This image, of course, is one from that series and is obviously captured in the early morning hours at Lititz Springs Park.

Keep an eye out for more images coming your way tonight, tomorrow, or possibly later in the week!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have so much to be thankful for this year. Not least of which is the support of the community regarding my recent transition announcement.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Thanksgiving with people you care about!
