Casey teaches, she's a mom and a wife, she and her husband run The Watering Haul doing bartending and beverage catering, and she and her kids make The Hug Button — bracelets that carry comfort and connection wherever life takes you. 💛
The advice for a list like that is always the same: pick one.
But that's not four businesses pulling four directions, it's one person taking care of a room full of people — a classroom, an event, and now somebody's wrist.
If you're reading this with your own list — the job, the side thing nobody asked for — you've heard the same advice. Niche down. I tried it in 2015 while I was rebuilding my business from nothing, and cutting out everything about me that didn't look like a photographer only made me harder to tell apart from everyone else with a camera.
So instead of asking which one to drop, write the whole list out and ask who's on the other end of each one. It's usually the same person, and that's your through-line. ✨
It's what I build a shoot around, because you can't plan good photos of someone before you know it.
What looks like too many directions is one person nobody's shown the thread to.
Put your list in the comments and I'll tell you what I see.
