This is likely my favorite capture of azalea season 2026 at Magnolia Plantation.

This was a 14-image pano of the white bridge pond in relatively early, warm light.

It just shows how ethereal and breathtakingly beautiful this place truly is. Ask anyone who has been there. The first visit, especially in spring, is heaven-like.

Cheers!

Portal to Spring...

I always found this scene interesting with the bald cypress limb hovering over the pond. When the reflections are glass-like, it gives the appearance of a portal; at least to me, it does. 😊

I love how this tree limb was draped in Spanish moss and how the warm light from the rising sun illuminated the fresh, new greens.

The beauty of this place is indescribable. While I try my best to capture it, you just need to see it in person.

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens never disappoints this time of year.

I challenged myself a bit to capture different compositions of the Long White Bridge this time. Every year is different as the blooms vary, but I was actually drawn to the foreground of this image that included some yellow orchid and some atamasca lily. The bald cypress lends to the mystery and enchantment of the old south. And, of course, the background spanish moss catching early morning light is always a bonus!

Cheers for Spring!!

The Long White Bridge, in late afternoon light...

Every year we come to this place. And every time, there is always a different way to "see" it. Of course, the late, warm light illuminating the background sure helps, too.
I just love springtime here.

Corridor of Blooms...

We just returned home from beautiful South Carolina. There is nothing better, especially after a relatively rough winter. And, of course, the azaleas were spectacular this year!!

It was one of those gorgeous, invigoratingly cold winter mornings on the Rhode Island coastline.

This one goes back to New Years 2017. I got to this location just in time for that sky to light up. I recall the colors were quite cool in tone that morning; not unusual for winter skies to be more magenta and purple. I loved it!

It was such a great time that morning. It just goes by too fast.

I simply cannot wait for some better weather conditions. I'd love to make it to the coastline soon for some seascapes.

Have a wonderful New Year, friends!!

Pier Overtaken...

A small pier succumbs to the tide in Old Saybrook, CT.

The marsh greenery is already changing hue, likely due to stress from hot summer days.

The one-minute exposure captures the colorful clouds floating across the sky and the grasses in movement from a breezy evening.

The full Sturgeon moon at sunset, while it competes with the sun for the final few minutes before stealing the spotlight. The golden glow of the Setting sun was still warming up the foreground rocks.

The moon's light was a bit obscured by cirrus clouds. Still quite pretty, nonetheless.

Photo captured at Weekapaug Point, Rhode Island Friday night. It's been forever since I captured a moonrise, so this felt right.

A solstice sun, just before she dips below the horizon. She is adorned with a diadem; a 3 minute cloud formation above her in appreciation.

Here's to all the beautiful times and memories we will assuredly have this summer.

Happy Summer 2025, everyone!! 😊

Sunshower at the Setting...

This is my favorite local vista for sunsets in summer.

I captured this one earlier in the week during a gentle shower as the sun was setting. The 1.6 second exposure caused the breeze to paint the wildflowers and tall grasses in a beautiful sway. The last golden light of the sun illuminated the grasses and pink wildflowers in the background.

The old farm trail following the fence line lead to the antique barn in the distance.

I absolutely love this vista. I hope to do it justice each year.

"Entertaining Angels"...

On Sunday evening, I took a drive to the Rhode Island coastline for some wave therapy. The tide was ebb, but the waves were a joy to photograph, nonetheless.
It's been too long since I ventured out for the cathartic wave therapy that I love so much. It was incredible to breathe deeply again.

As I began to catch various wave patterns forming through the rocks, I noticed an interesting pattern forming in the sky; a pattern I had never seen forming so quickly with a mere 1 and 1/3 second long exposure. The clouds were feathering, forming what appeared to me to resemble a lit-from-within wing of an angel. (This is more prominent if you turn the image vertically).

I'm a firm believer in the mysterious and wonderful, and I was so blessed to capture it last weekend. 😊
