Gentle Giants
Just this past year I had the pleasure to capture just a few, small tad bits of Alli and Abbi's love for their animals. This session came with many emotions and almost seemed surreal to me. I've been in those same boots these young horsewomen are experiencing.
Growth
As many know, when growing up around horses it comes with a great deal of challenges and revaluations, a young equestrian has to face. One of which is making the difficult decision to "move on". I won't say retired! These animals ALWAYS have a purpose and the care for them does not stop when walking out of the show pen. The "moving on" phase never really gives you much warning neither, but all we can do is enjoy the company of the animal.
Possibilities
New year, new possibilities! "Moving on" to the next horse is also filled with the prospect of more! More opportunities for personal growth, more preparation of understanding the next horse.... and the next and the next. More appreciation of the horse you once rode everyday. More importantly, looking back at those memories that made you the horsewomen you'll be.
Last Thoughts
If I could give any horse enthusiasts some advice about BEFORE the "moving on" phase. Is too enjoy them! Many lose sight of how and why enjoying the animal is so important. These Gentle Giants give their all most days and that's fine. Even the best trainers and horses have off days. These animals aren't perfect, and neither are us! So give them those treats and kisses! Clean their stall just a little longer. Let them have a sip of your soda when it's 110° and the next class is fixing to start. Remember "moving on" is not the end its just a chance to start a new! I commend you, Alli and Abbi.
