The Wyandanch Fire Company was alerted for a building fire at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on South 20th Street about 14:25 on October 18, 2026. Chief of Department Ron, First Assistant Chief Brown, and Second Assistant Chief Benitez responded first and were told numerous calls were being taken. Chief Benitez arrived first and reported smoke showing. Chief Ron arrived shorty after and took command of the scene. Upon further investigation fire was located in the basement kitchen known as Mercy Soup Kitchen and a working fire was transmitted. Engine 1-10-3 was first due and that crew stretched one line to the basement via the exterior stairs. North Babylon Engine 1-8-4 picked a hydrant across Straight Path and brought a supply line to 1-10-3. The crews from Ladder 1-10-5 and Quint 1-10-4 went to basement and first floor to check for extension and found the fire was traveling up a wall into first floor offices. The fire was knocked down quickly and contained to those areas. All searches were negative, as the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the North Babylon Fire Company, Deer Park and West Babylon Fire Departments. EMS coverage was provided by Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corps. The fire reportedly did not damage any of the kitchen equipment. The kitchen has provided meals for 45 years and currently provides approximately 150 hot meals a day.

On Sunday October 11, 2026, Rescue Hook, Ladder & Bucket Company No. 1 of the Lynbrook Fire Department held a wetdown for their new Pierce Ladder 428 at Truck Company quarters on Earle Avenue.
The ceremony began with a salute to the flag and moment of silence. The short ceremony included comments from Ex-Chief K. Bien, Company Captain Merkel, Chief of Department DiGiambattista, and Village of Lynbrook Mayor Beach. The new Ladder Truck was blessed by Department Ex-Chief & Chaplain DeCarlo.
Ex-Chief William Donald, the senior member of Truck Company christened the truck with a bottle of ch*****ne. The new truck was then wet down by Rockville Centre Ladder 447. The new 2026 Pierce Ladder 428 100' rearmount Aerial replaces a 2009 Seagrave. The Truck Company also operates it's 2017 Spartan/LTI 93' midmount Tower Ladder 427 and 2002 Spartan Mobile Air Recovery Unit 4288. Congratulation to the company and best of luck with the new truck.

The Wyandanch Fire Company was alerted for a reported building fire at the vacant Wyandanch Day Care Center on Commonwealth Drive at 14:25 on October 4, 2026. Chief of Department Ron arrived first and had smoke showing from the boarded up two story building and transmitted a working fire. Engine 1-10-3 was first due and went to the hydrant across from the building, that crew had a long stretch to the building with the first line. Ladder 1-10-5 set up in front of the building along with Deer Park Ladder 1-4-10. Chief Ron requested multiple Ladders to the scene to assist in gaining access to the building due to it being boarded up. The first line made access through a first floor front window and located the fire in a first floor classroom in the rear of the building. Engine 1-10-1 was supplied by 1-10-3 and two lines were stretched from that engine. As crews were searching the building, one person was found on the second floor who walked out on their own and refused medical treatment, then left the scene. The fire was under control within an hour and contained to the one classroom. All other searches were negative and there were no reported injuries. Mutual aid the to the scene was provided by the Deer Park, Dix Hills, West Babylon, North Lindenhurst, and Babylon Fire Departments and the East Farmingdale and North Babylon Fire Companies. The Lindenhurst Fire Department stood by with an Engine at Wyandanch Headquarters. Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance provided EMS coverage at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Massapequa Fire Department and Nassau County Firecom took multiple calls reporting a house fire on Clocks Boulevard about 18:20 on Saturday October 3, 2026. Third Assistant Chief Leone arrived first and transmitted a working fire and reported fire in a two story attached three car garage, that was extending into the two story home. Chief of Department Zimmerman and Second Assistant Chief Kennedy arrived shortly after, with Chief Zimmerman taking command of the scene. Engine 6314 was first due and had a hydrant across from the house. That crew put the first line into operation as well as their deck gun to knock down fire in the garage and protect the exposure four side home that was damaged by heat. The fire quickly spread throughout both structures forcing firefighters to evacuate for a short time. At least four hand lines were stretched and operated from Engines 6314 and 6315, as well as the master stream from Wantagh Ladder 6911. The crews from Ladders 632 and 636 searched the home with all searches being negative. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire. It took over two hours to bring the fire under control with two firefighters suffering minor injuries. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Amityville, Bethpage,Copiague, Farmingdale, Lindenhurst, Seaford, South Farmingdale, and Wantagh Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Bay Shore Fire Department responded to a house fire on Hemlock Lane at 08:50 on September 28, 2026. Chief of Department Ippolito was the first to respond. When he arrived on scene he had smoke showing from a two story home and transmitted a working fire. Engine 3-1-6 was first due and secured a hydrant on their way in. Ladder 3-1-7 set up in front of the house. Engine crews stretched two lines with one going into operation to extinguish the fire which was located on the second floor. All searches were negative and there were no reported injuries. The fire was under control within an hour. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Islip, West Islip, and East Islip Fire Departments. Bay Shore-Brightwaters Ambulance Corps. and Brentwood Legion Ambulance provided EMS coverage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Bay Shore Fire Department was alerted for numerous vehicles on fire at NJC Scrap Metal Recycling on Moffitt Boulevard about 12:45 on September 27, 2026. Chief of Department Ippolito responded and reported a large column of smoke visible from a distance. Chief Ippolito arrived along with Assistant Chief Voges and had multiple stacks of vehicles burning in the scrap yard, threatening to extend into a neighboring bus yard for Suffolk Transportation. Engine 3-1-5 secured a hydrant with Engine 3-1-3 and supplied West Islip Ladder 3-17-4 and operated from the bus yard with multiple hand lines and the master stream from 3-17-4. Ladder 3-1-7 operated from inside the scrap yard with it's master stream and multiple hand lines from Engine 3-1-1 who also secured a hydrant on their way in. The fire damaged nearly 100 vehilces in the scrap yard and one bus in the neighboring yard. It took about three hours to bring the fire under control, as vehilces needed to be moved by grapplers to get to hot spots. There were no reported injuries. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Islip, Islip Terrace, East Islip, West Islip, Central Islip and Lindenhurst Fire Departments and the North Babylon Fire Company. Bay Shore-Brightwaters Ambulance Corps and Exchange Ambulance of the Islips provided EMS coverage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The North Massapequa Fire Department was alerted for a house fire on North Wisconsin Avenue at 06:45 on September 28, 2026. Chief of Department Ferrante was the first to respond and was told by his dispatcher that a neighbor called, stating there was black smoke coming from the house. Chief Ferrante arrived on scene shortly after and reported smoke coming from the attic vents of a two story home and a transmitted a working fire. Upon further investigation, the fire was located in the basement. Engine 665 was first due and had a hydrant before the house. Massapequa and Seaford Ladders 632 and 683 set up in front of the house and those crews began searches and venting the home. Engine crews stretched and operated two hand lines to extinguish the fire and bring it under control within an hour. The house was unoccupied and all searches were negative. Mutual aid the to the scene was provided by the Massapequa Fire Department for an Engine and Working Truck, the Seaford Fire Department for a working Truck, the Wantagh Fire Department for an additional Truck, the Bethpage Fire Department for an Engine and the East Meadow Fire Department for a FAST Truck. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Deer Park Fire Department and North Babylon Fire Company were alerted for a dual response to a reported RV fire in the driveway of a home on West 17th Street about 13:40 on September 25, 2026. North Babylon First Assistant Chief Elco and Engine 1-8-4 were the first units to respond as they had just returned from an alarm. Chief Elco arrived and transmitted a working fire and had a fully involved RV and car next to it, that extended to the second floor and attic of a two story home. Engine 1-8-4 was first due and had a hydrant before the house and that crew put the first line into operation. Deer Park Engine 1-4-11 arrived and that crew stretched the second line to the RV to extinguish that fire and keep two burning propane tanks cool. As additional crews arrived a third line would be placed into operation. The fire was brought under control within an hour with no reported injuries. All searches of the home and vehicles were negative. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Dix Hills Fire Department for RIT and an Engine, the West Islip and Melville Fire Departments for Ladders and the Wyandanch Fire Company for an Engine. Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance also sent an Ambulance to the scene. Deer Park First Assistant Chief Jackson arrived during the operation and took command of the scene. The Copiague Fire Department was alerted for a boat fire in the canal across from 175 Riviera Drive East about 17:20 on September 23, 2026. Chief of Department Broyles along with Second and Third Assistant Chiefs Guella and Weiss responded first and were told there was also a burn victim at the scene. The Chiefs arrived and found a 27 foot boat fully involved and a male with burns to the face. Engine 1-3-9 was first due and had a hydrant across from the scene and that crew put the first line into operation. Engine 1-3-5 arrived and that crew put the second line intooperation. The Lindenhurst Fire Department was requested for a boat and Ambulance to the scene. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes with the two lines and master stream from 1-6-20. The burn victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center by Lindenhurst Ambulance 1-6-17. Copiague Chief of Department Broyles was in command of the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Wyandanch Fire Company received an alarm at Wyandanch Memorial High School at about 13:50 on September 18, 2026. Second Assistant Chief Benitez arrived and reported a fire in a first floor classroom and transmitted a working fire. Engine 1-10-3 was first due and that crew put one line into operation to quickly extinguish the fire and contain it to the one room. Numerous mutual aid departments were called due to it being a school and to help clear the smoke condition in the building. The fire was under control within 30 minutes with no reported injuries. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Deer Park, Dix Hills, Melville, North Lindenhurst, and West Babylon Fire Departments and the East Farmingdale Fire Company. Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corps provided EMS coverage at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
