There sure has been a lot of activity in the night sky as of late! Here is a photograph of the comet Atlas, taken last night from the outskirts of Lincoln.

The comet will only be visible for another week or so until it disappears, not making a return visit until an estimated 80,000 years from now.

☄️ How to see it: Look towards the western horizon once the sun sets and the stars begin to come out. Last night I was able to catch it with my naked eye beginning at about 45 minutes after the sun dipped below the horizon.

Earlier this summer I revisited this Kansas stone home several times, documenting it as the surrounding field of wheat turned to gold and was eventually harvested. The landscape has changed dramatically in the past year with the construction of over 200 wind turbines throughout the countryside.

Ever since my first time passing this old homestead in the panhandle of Nebraska, I knew capturing it under the northern lights would be the ultimate experience. Last Saturday evening finally gave me the opportunity and made the cross state journey all worth the while.
