Dear Little Me,
Happy birthday! Today, we are turning 42. I know that sounds like a huge, impossible number to a five-year-old, but I wanted to reach back and tell you a few things about the journey we’ve been on.
There have been seasons where things felt heavy—times when we faced losses that felt like they might break us. But I need you to know how incredibly brave you are. We didn’t just survive those moments; we grew through them. We decided to go on a long, beautiful healing journey to uncover the truth that was always there, even when it was hard to see.
Here is what I’ve learned at 42 that I want you to hold onto right now:
You are loved. Not for what you do or how much you help, but simply because you exist.
You are protected. That little spark inside of you is fierce, and it has guided us through every storm.
You are enough. You don’t need to be bigger, faster, or different. You are a masterpiece exactly as you are at five, and I am still a masterpiece at 42.
You are amazing and deserving. You deserve every bit of joy, every laugh, and every good thing that comes your way.
We have celebrated so many wins, big and small, and I am so proud of the person we have become. We’ve learned that being kind to ourselves is the greatest victory of all.
Keep playing, keep dreaming, and know that you are growing into someone who knows their worth. I’ve got us from here.
