It’s that time of year! Fall mini shoot dates are open and ready for you to snag yours. These minis have become a really fun tradition for me to offer every fall and winter, and I’m so happy to have so many families book year after year. 

All of this year’s fall sessions will be scheduled outdoors, at one of a few natural locations that I’ll choose closer to the date based on how the locations and foliage is looking. 

the details: 20 minutes / 10 images or 15 for returning clients / $250 / gallery upgrade to entire session for an additional $250

This was a full day of celebrating and learning for the BetterLife community - keynote speakers, workshops, an elegant dinner, and awards. I’m glad to have been there to capture it!

A glimpse into a regular day over here as a professional photographer and mom of three boys! Some hours of work that I enjoy, time spent connecting with my kids and resting and enjoying the little things, and time for ordinary tasks. Grateful for it all. I love this little life. 🤍

I just delivered some fresh headshots for Keating O’Gara and thought I would share these new ones, along with some work from our last session!

The Keating O’Gara office in their The Telegraph District offices have a lot of unique and meaningful design elements which are really satisfying to bring out in these environmental portraits. In each set of portraits I shoot three different looks: the Lincoln skyline as seen from their main conference room, the custom artwork created by one of their attorneys, and the main hallway that gives a lot of depth as it runs the length of the whole building. The set of photos is varied, but still feels cohesive. (A number of these are vertical images cropped for the confines of this app) Everyone in this office has been awesome to work with - trusting of all my ideas, and very hospitable!

Real, human, connected photos speak volumes to your clients - who are likely getting really turned off to artificially produced AI imagery. When you feature your real working space as well, it adds another facet of trust, connection, and lived experience to your photos.

These headshots for the Lincoln chapter of Unico Insurance Group are turning out so well after two staff sessions already! We wanted these portraits to show the natural space in the atrium lobby of their offices, so naturally some of them show a neutral wintry look and some are greened up in the background. I love that nuance!

These real headshots and portraits communicate some very important qualities that AI generated headshots cannot bring to your marketing: trust, authenticity, investment, humanity, and connection. In fact, an AI created headshot can actually undermine all of these things in a potential business relationship. I personally know what I would rather see in the businesses I work with and the connections I work towards.

My clients understand the difference and they know the value of real portraits, and I think that trust matters to their clients too.

It’s been an honor - and a lot of FUN! - to be a business mentor for Marcela through Echo Collective’s business development program for New American women, The Refinery. Marcela is the owner of multiple businesses, but we focused on just one during our time together. Coffee Is Our Religion imports specialty roasted coffee and cacao from Columbia, her home country. I had the opportunity to sample plenty of this delicious coffee, and it is the perfect blend of bitter, smooth, and mellow.

Marcela and I met up over six weeks to talk about her website, social media, and photography! I gave her a couple of crash courses on how to take great product photos on her own phone, showing her how to use natural light, windows, reflectors, and simple editing strategies to capture her own products going forward. Then we finished up with a product + mini branding session to refresh her website and social content.

I was also really excited to connect her with a new avenue for selling and marketing her imported coffee (and I hope to share that fun news soon!).

Hi! I've tried to update my profile photo multiple times, and each time it says Meta needs to verify it...but it also won't let me use ANY photos for my profile because every one is "under review." 🙄 It looks scammy and weird right now, but it's still little ol' me here!

The first glimpses of this dreamy Super 8 film footage felt like love!

I had just gotten this camera, and brought it with me on my trip to Hawaii with Silas. Without being totally sure whether it was working or a pricey experiment going to waste…I filmed little clips throughout the trip. The film is silent - no sound recording film is currently available. It was SO windy - and the footage definitely shows that. 😆 I’m still amazed it worked at all.

Sometime I’ll share the whole process if y’all are interested. For now, I just love looking at it! Shot with my 1969 Emdeko film camera. I ordered more film because I also now have four vintage super 8 cameras. 😀 More to come with this experimental project.
