The Sisters have fun at Disneyland too!

This is a particularly interesting capture for me. I had seen this group of Sisters earlier in the day in line for Thunder Mountain and was fascinated to be seeing them in this themed commercial environment. I guess it just caught me off guard. But not in a bad way, but in a hopeful and cheerful way. I was happy to see them laughing and smiling and enjoying themselves as much as everyone else. I had never seen Nuns in this setting before. In that Thunder Mountain line, I just reflected on the scene.

Later in the day, towards early evening, they showed up at the cafe we were sitting, taking a break. It made me happy to see them again. Made me feel peaceful. I felt inclined to snap a quick picture to hold onto the moment, but was also a little bit weary to do so as I didn’t want to be disrespectful. So, I hesitated. Last minute I swung my camera up to grab a shot as they were leaving and the early evening light caused the exposure to slow down to adjust and I thought I had missed the shot entirely.

Then I looked and this is what I got. This one Sister. Looking straight at me and smiling at me with such loving intention. In a way, excepting of my swift attempt at capturing them and also playfully saying, “we caught you” and it’s totally okay. It turned into a special memory for me and I’m grateful for the encounter.
