This Blue Jay fledgling, named Blueberry, showed up recently in all his fuzzy glory in my back yard 💙. He’s become BFFs with a number of kids his age, a cardinal, some house finches and sparrows.
I got these shots of his beautiful coloring & had to share!
Fact: Male and Female Blue Jay’s have the same coloring & it’s extremely difficult to figure out their s*x. Males have that very loud call I think most people are familiar with, while females have a different call, which could be described as screeching, in my opinion at least. Fact: Blue Jay’s open their mouths and scrunch their necks up when they’re hot to allow air to cool them off.
Temps around here have been very high & when I noticed this behavior in Blueberry, I headed to Cornell University’s Orinthology Website to get more information. You can access a number of free resources and information there.

Spring is here!! All the beautiful colors of spring are blooming! What’s your favorite flower or plant to see bloom in the spring? Mine are lilacs. I planted a lilac Bush in 2009 in memory of my Grandmom, who passed away some years ago, but lilacs were her favorite flowers, and the tree is now at least 10 feet tall and growing every year!

You know it’s when baby birds are showing up with cuteness overload 🥰 Meet Spuds! He’s the first fledgling I saw this spring! He is cuteness overload! His mama and dad came back to feed him, but he caught a quick while waiting for them ❤️

Hi! I’m Danielle McBride, the photographer and owner of Bright Joy Photography!
I started Bright Joy Photography because I want to show you how I bring life to photos...I want you to feel like you’re standing on the beach watching the sunrise, looking at the magnolias blooming & staring up at that beautiful starry night...wherever it may be!
I love being in nature because it’s fills my heart with joy and brings me a sense a peace. I find so many beautiful birds and treasures while I’m outdoors, just waiting for me to take their photo. I can bring alive memories and give them a pulse. My photos will add joy to your home, office or wherever you decide to display them.
About myself: well I’m a pretty down to earth, fun loving, jazz hand kind of gal. I talk a lot and love meeting new people. I’m an open book, so if you have questions, please ask.

Hello everyone! Thank you for following Bright Joy Photography!
My name is Danielle McBride and I have been a photographer for as long as I can remember 📷🎞 I always had a camera in my hand as a child, a teen, and in high school I had the opportunity to take photography at Vo-tech, this was of course way before the age of digital cameras!
It was an awesome experience, and I still remember the way the chemicals smelled in the dark room and the joy I felt as I watched my photos come to life!
I continued documenting my life with the various cameras that were released and then...the phone camera! That was something!
My husband bought me a Fuji XT-100 in December of 2018. I haven’t put it down since!

I was slow to share my work, afraid of what feedback I would receive, but I got so much love with each and every photo, I decided that I would continue to learn my trade.
I volunteered my time at multiple church events, shooting portraits, spending countless hours outside on the coldest winter nights-because that’s when the stars shine the brightest 🌟
Finally deciding I would follow my heart and joy and officially launched my website on 2/27/21.
