Last year, our county fair community lost someone truly special. Owen was not only a dedicated sheep exhibitor, but he was also the kind of person everyone could look up to.
One of the things I will always remember about Owen was the way he showed up for others without ever being asked. He was always willing to help the younger kids, lend a hand around the barn, and be there for his friends. Some of my favorite photos from last year’s fair are of Owen helping his buddy Jackson show his sheep.
This year, I have the honor of photographing the Andy Kennedy Memorial Goat and Sheep Jackpot Show. Thank you to the Youngpeter family for trusting me to capture such a special show and for making it possible for me to be there.
In memory of Owen, I have decided that all exhibitors will receive free downloads of their photos from the show.
I hope these photos can be a small way to honor Owen and the incredible example he set for so many people. He showed us that being a great exhibitor is about more than what happens in the show ring. It is about the way you treat people, the way you show up for others, and the impact you leave behind.
Owen, you are missed more than words can say, but your kindness and the example you set will continue to live on through this community. 🤍
