I love photo traditions! It has become an annual tradition to take golf photos of the girls for Michael’s birthday card. 💚 Pep picked out new clubs for her birthday earlier this year, but I figured the toy clubs were probably the wisest choice for sister photo props. 😅 Swipe to see a few photos from this year and then one from each year past. 🥹

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a little on here about what I was up to last week!

As I think about the past few days at the National Adoption Conference, I feel very thankful (and emotionally and physically exhausted 😅). I am thankful my friend Valerie invited me to share my book at A Step Ahead Adoption’s table. I am so thankful for her support and friendship!

I am thankful Michael was able to take time off work and join us. He helped me while I shared Beautiful Things Take Time with new people, grabbed coffee, carried all of my bags. I could go on and on. It also would have been really overwhelming to me to try and relay all of the information from the conference to him so I am extra thankful we could experience it side by side.

I am thankful for Sunny’s Birthmom and the openness we have in Sunny’s adoption. I am just really really thankful for her and how we all have love for each other.

I am thankful to hear so many different stories and perspectives from adoptees, birthmoms, adoptive parents, and adoption professionals. Michael and I want to learn as much as we can so we can provide for our family’s needs, and support Sunny’s birth family the best that we can. We found out about some really helpful resources for us and for Birthmom which I’m excited for.

Like I said at the start of this post—I just feel very thankful. And now I’m ready to go home and hug Sunny and Pep! (Who have thankfully been happily chilling with Grammy, Grandpa, Mumzy, Poppy and cousins!)

When people learn I am a photographer, they usually ask, “What kind of photography do you do?” I say 75% of my professional photography (so not counting taking photos of my own children 😂) includes taking headshots, branding photos, and model/actor portfolio photos. Here are just a handful of headshots/branding photos I’ve taken this year of some truly beautiful and talented women! (The other 25% of my work includes families, babies, maternity, seniors, etc. I love it all!)

Placing a flower in my daughter’s hair means more to me than most people would realize.

Before she was here, flowers started to remind me of hope.
I held them in my arms in self-portraits to symbolize hope during a time of waiting.
I placed them in Seasons of Hope photos to show hope during a time of grief.
I dried sentimental flowers to cherish and make into necklaces because I did not want to forget.

Now that she is here, she personifies that hope, and I can’t wait to see her to continue to bloom into the person God made her to be.

I pray whatever you are hoping for today, that you will trust God will answer the calling in your heart in his perfect timing. 💐

We have started summer break by saying goodbye to diapers for Sunny, so we’ve had several days chilling at home! Here are a few things we’ve been doing together . . . ☀️ (The girls LOVED playing with the drink dispenser outside. Best $5 I’ve spent! I might have just ordered another one).

Last week the weather was a little cooler, a little rainy, a little cloudy (similar to how it is today). I know it’s not popular, but I do really love a cloudy day. 🥰 Sunny and I didn’t have plans, and big sis was at school. So, I got out a couple umbrellas, grabbed my camera, and let Sunny lead me into our damp yard. I followed her as she played, stomped, laughed, asked, and found a snail or two. I’ve realized over many years of photographing kids and now being a mom, the best way to photograph children is to follow their lead. And a little prop (like an umbrella) always helps enhance the magic and fun. ☂️
