This is a reminder for all my creative and self-employed friends out there: You can and should take a holiday break. You deserve to put the brush down, close the laptop, turn the email notifications off, and unplug to enjoy the holiday with your people, just as much as anyone else.

I know, I know, it’s time that you could be finishing that project or checking off that to-do list, but believe me— it’s really okay to leave it sitting idle for a few days. Working over the holiday because you feel like you have to isn’t worth sacrificing the invaluable time with your family + friends to complete that task, and I hope that your clients will be understanding as I expect they will be celebrating and spending this time with their people too.

If you haven’t already, please give yourself grace and permission to clock out and be present this holiday season. Turn the auto-responder on, share your out of office message, activate that do not disturb, and spend some well-earned time off to take part (without guilt) in the holiday plans and festivities. You deserve it ❤️
