Taking photographs of musical events (operas, musicals, concerts, etc.) is the perfect marriage of my two loves. This past weekend, the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre presented "Rappahannock County," an opera about the Civil War. Using historical diaries and letters, five singers portray more than 30 roles. Here's my gallery of photos from opening night. Kudos to all involved!

If you've never seen Hadestown, this is a great chance to be introduced to it. If you've seen it many times (like me), you'll enjoy the teen edition opening this weekend at Leeds Center for the Arts . Every person on stage is giving it their all. (Be sure to take your Kleenex. Yes, I cried). I took way too many photos, so I apologize for the large gallery size, but it's a beautiful production with so many great moments. Go see it.

I woke up still in awe as to what I saw/heard last night at the Chamber Music Festival of Lexington's final concert of the week. Holy wow. Mike Block, cellist, composer and singer, performed his original composition "Hope on the Hill" with five other musicians. He uses a strap to hold his cello while standing and playing, but then....he started singing at the same time! The piece itself was unique, inspiring and creative. If you ever get a chance to hear this guy, do it! Here's my gallery of photos from the concert.
