Wandered to Los Angeles, where I honed my skills and met my future husband. Then I relocated to Lexington, VA to raise a family and look after my husband's ancestrial home. I've been publishing Under the Radar magazine for over 16 years and have been a photographer for 20. I am obsessed with people, all people and I love capturing moments in time.

Yesterday, the band Rilo Kiley officially announced that they were reuniting for the Just Like Heaven festival and hinted at some future tour dates. Here's a photo of frontwoman Jenny Lewis I took in 2009 for Under the Radar's Best of the Decade Issue. It was one of several times I photographed Jenny (and Rilo Kiley) and she was always an inspiring subject.

Interpol's sophomore album, "Antics," came out 20 years ago today on Matador Records, if you can imagine that. Here's a frame from my photo shoot with the band for Under the Radar's Issue 7 cover story on the album. It was shot in a studio in the band's native NYC.

Arcade Fire's acclaimed debut album "Funeral" (on Merge Records) just turned 20 over the weekend, if you can believe that. Under the Radar did a feature on the band and that album in Issue 9 of our print magazine and I did a photo shoot with them at the famous West Hollywood music venue The Troubadour. It was around the time of their soundcheck the afternoon of their show at the 500 capacity venue and I seem to remember singer Win Butler having a cold. I did a lot of shoots at the Troubadour in the early days of Under the Radar, including with Interpol, Broadcast, Elbow, The Divine Comedy, and Feist. Very soon Arcade Fire would be playing much bigger venues, including drawing a large crowd at Coachella. Here is one of my photos from that "Funeral" shoot.

Nick Offerman plays the president in "Civil War," which is the #1 movie in America right now and has received acclaim from critics. In 2011 I did a photo shoot with him for Under the Radar's Music vs. Comedy Issue, where we paired musicians and comedians for joint interviews. For our shoot with Offerman we styled him to look like Willie Nelson and then he did a joint interview with Iron & Wine (aka Sam Beam). At the time he was playing Ron Swanson in the beloved NBC sitcom "Parks & Recreation" and was an absolute delight to photograph.

Here's one of my photos of Yoko Ono. I photographed her in New York City for Under the Radar's 2004 Protest Issue. It was the first of our Protest Issues and we've done one every four years since. On her protest sign is the Japanese symbol for peace. The iconic singer, artist, and activist turned 91 last month and it was an honor to photograph her, especially as it was still the early days of Under the Radar (it was only Issue 7).

Congratulations to Cillian Murphy for his Best Actor win at the Oscars last night for his role in “Oppenheimer.” Here’s a frame from my 2007 photo shoot with him. I photographed him in a hotel room in Los Angeles for an article in Issue 17 of Under the Radar where the Irish actor did a joint interview with Kevin Drew, the singer of the Canadian indie rock band Broken Social Scene. The interview led to Murphy appearing in a Feist music video/short film directed by Drew. At the time Murphy was best known for “28 Days Later,” “Batman Begins,” and “Red Eye.” I was an especially big fan of “28 Days Later” and was incredibly excited to photograph him. He was an absolute gentleman and a joy to work with. Several years later Murphy did another joint interview for Under the Radar with German composer/musician Nils Frahm and we used another frame from this shoot for that article. His win last night was much deserved!

Even though our schools have closed, our kids are still working hard! Our children have adapted like champs and deserve to mark their accomplishments finishing up this school year with a Spring school portrait.

On the weekend of May 16th and 17th, with rain days the following weekend, I will be taking appointments to come to student’s homes and create outdoor, socially distant photographs of them.

Sessions are $50 (+$25 per additional child) and include access to web-ready digital downloads and a print making store. 25% of the session fee will be donated to the Rockbridge Area Relief association (RARA) in Lexington.

Once we come through this strange time, we will look back and cherish these images for years to come.
