✨ A little reminder/update about turnaround times & what happens behind the scenes ✨
I wanted to take a moment to explain my turnaround times and what goes into running my photography business, because I know it can be easy to see a photographer posting sessions and assume that’s all we’re doing🤍
Photography is my full-time job, but it is not the only thing I spend my time doing.
Behind the scenes, I’m editing galleries, culling thousands of images, backing up files, sending galleries, answering messages, scheduling sessions, preparing locations, planning upcoming sessions, working on business tasks, homeschooling my daughter online, and keeping up with everything that comes with running a small business.
I’m also a mom of three young children, and I have other personal and medical responsibilities that sometimes require my time and attention as well.
With the current season of life I’m in, I’ve realized that adjusting my turnaround times during the busiest parts of the year will allow me to continue giving my clients the quality of work they deserve without putting unrealistic pressure on myself.
Because of that, here are my current turnaround times:
📸 Regular Sessions:
My standard turnaround time is currently 4 weeks.
🍂 Fall & Christmas Season:
During fall and Christmas, my turnaround time will TEMPORARILY be 4–6 weeks. This season is significantly busier, and this timeframe will allow me to balance the increased number of galleries while still delivering them as quickly as I reasonably can. Christmas galleries will still be out in a timely manner. This is why they’re scheduled earlier in November.
‼️‼️This change will work much better for me during this particular season of life, and as of right now, I plan to return to my standard 4-week turnaround time early next year.
📅 January–March:
I will also be taking a much-needed step back during the beginning of next year. I will be doing very little work in February and March. I’ll be taking clients in January, but significantly less than usual in January.
Because of that, I will be limiting my availability and taking on very few sessions during this time. This is something I’ve intentionally planned for and will communicate with clients when booking so everyone knows what to expect.
💍 Weddings:
My typical wedding turnaround time is up to 100 days MAX, BUT TYPICALLY WITHIN 4–6 weeks. This will be changing to 8-12 weeks. As I have done over two dozen weddings this year, it’s just beyond unrealistic expectations for myself to be able to get out galleries AND wedding galleries within 4 weeks of their date.
THIS BEING SAID!!!!
If your contract has a different turnaround time listed, that contracted timeframe will be honored. I do have some older contracts that have not yet been updated to reflect my current standard turnaround times, and those clients will still receive their galleries within the timeframe stated in their individual contract.
One other important reminder: sneak peeks are a courtesy, not an indication that a full gallery is immediately ready. I love sharing them because I know how exciting it is to see a few images right away, but they don’t change the editing queue or the turnaround time for the completed gallery. I don’t always provide sneak peaks, it does mix up my workflow a bit. But if requested, I will accommodate a few sneaks.
I know waiting for your photos can be hard. especially when you’re excited to see them! I completely understand. It’s normal🤍 But I promise your gallery is not forgotten just because you haven’t received it yet. I am working hard at it, along with the galleries of many other families, couples, seniors, and weddings who have trusted me with their memories.
My goal will always be to get your gallery to you as soon as possible while still giving it the time and attention it deserves. Perfecting galleries takes time, and it can be tedious.
