Happy Fourth of July. ❤️🤍💙
Today is a day to celebrate the ideals this country was founded on—freedom, hope, and the opportunity to build a better future. It’s also a day to remember that our history is complex, and that not everyone has experienced those ideals equally. There are still struggles here at home and around the world that remind us how much work remains.
As I watch my daughter grow up in America, I hope she grows up knowing both gratitude and empathy. Gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities she has, and empathy for those whose voices have not always been heard. I hope she learns that loving your country doesn’t mean believing it’s perfect—it means caring enough to help it become better.
Today we’ll enjoy the fireworks, the laughter, and time with the people we love, while remembering that freedom is something to celebrate, protect, and extend to everyone.
