- C A R D I F F C O T T O N - 10/30/26 -
Typically, I look for high clouds, but when there's low cotton balls chilling over the hills of Cardiff, I can't help myself. On this night I set out to photograph birds using the new Black Rapid Hybrid X, which allowed me to bring my wide angle as well as my 600mm. Photographing just before sunset, handheld has been something I've been more and more interested in. Leaving the tripod behind feels so good, especially at times when you don't really need it.

These photos of a European Starling were processed motivated by a set of charcoal drawings beautifully done by Chinese artist . Shou Xin is a true master of minimalism and movement. I absolutely love it!

I NEVER convert my images to black & white, but I was inspired! Nature takes shapes that the mind can only dream of. When I see it, I must capture it!

I want to start drawing and painting again! Not sure what's going to get me over the hump. One day soon though , I feel it!

- O N E T R E E - 6/6/26 -
Who would you be if you were born somewhere else? How much does where you're from shape who you are? Sometimes I wonder what career I'd have or who I'd be as an individual if I was raised in the mountains, the desert, or even the islands. If I took one different turn in life, where would I be now?

I’m proud of where I'm from and grateful for the ways its shaped me. As much as our journeys are so unique, the older I get, the more I feel like our paths become more similar. Simply put, we've all been through ups and downs that have shaped who we've become, just figuring things out along the way.

This is a composite image of a tree in the middle of the Sierras. I shot this while on our last big camping trip in June. I took off on the bike on a solo mission and came across this beautiful setting. I was all alone, as was this tree. I only had my 200-600mm, so I took about 6 horizontals and stitched them together to make a vertical in Lightroom. Simple thoughts happen here in the mountains. So much of me says this is where I should be, but I have such deep roots in the coast. There are some really beautiful places out there and this one is at the top.

There's definitely a few people in the water that think they're the King of Cardiff, a few on land as well, but the real king is in the sky and I ain't talking about the old white guy in the clouds. The Kingfisher sits at the top of the list of elusive creatures. For wildlife photographers, capturing a kingfisher is a true badge of honor.

- F A D E D - 9/27/25 -
After a lifetime of wondering, I finally got to see where one of my favorite relatives calls home. My Uncle Mike and his wife Kathy live in one of the most remote parts of California, at the very end of a national park in Sonoma.

This was truly a trip of a lifetime! We roadtripped up to my cousin’s wedding at a castle nestled in the hillside of the oldest winery in California! We got to stay at my uncle’s house and it was a real treat. This image is the view from their kitchen!!!

As night fell, there were ZERO lights as far as the eye could see. I was in AWE! Pure darkness for the very first time in my life. Surreal to say the least. The milky way was obviously on full display and there wasn’t a sound to be heard. Pretty dam magical!

- G O L D E N - 12/23/23 -
So many nights visited to this beautiful pathway of rocks to the end of the earth. Same place different feel each time. I've lived here my entire life, driven down the same streets every day, visited these beaches before I could walk. This place means so much to me words cannot describe it. Life is ever-changing and I've been trying to accept it and keep up with it. I create art not only because I love to, I do it because I need to. I'm more than grateful for my family and friends, finding a passion that propels me through this journey of life is just the cherry on top!
