Spent the day hiking around Shoshone Falls in Idaho. I have to say, it’s one of the most beautiful locations I’ve been to. The water was so clean and crisp. It was around 100 degrees and after our hike, we took a dip in the water. It was freezing cold, but so refreshing! Cooled me down instantly. We then retired to our dispersed camp spot near the Snake River Canyon. Not far from where Evil Knievel jumped his Skycycle X-2. motorcycle. We met some new friends Lisa and John on the trail. They were so great. We chatted or at least an hour about all of our adventures! I call this “trail magic”. Meeting like minded people and just reveling in all the amazing places we all have had the opportunity to visit. Happy travels new friends!!

We have always loved working with chefs — not just because of the food, but because of the people behind it.

Elaine Pusateri Cowan is one of those people we just clicked with right away.

We first worked with Elaine back when we were helping launch Foodies of New England Magazine, and she became a featured contributor. Even then, she had such a clear vision, so much warmth, and that wonderful chef energy of making things happen.

Sometimes work turns into friendship, and you get to keep cheering each other on from the sidelines.

Seeing Elaine’s story being shared makes us so happy.

Love this lady and her vision. So well deserved. Check her out here: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/elaine-pusateri-cowan-4621426_there-are-moments-when-timing-quietly-changes-share-7457759636092293121-LO_S?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAADz6K4BmV_vbADJhtcsinTTYe9pRSlCiw8

Why do worn things so often feel more beautiful than perfect ones?

I’ve been thinking about that a lot — about patina, wear, visual history, and why I’m always drawn to objects that have been shaped by living.

I wrote about it here:
Why Perfection Doesn’t Hold My Attention Anymore

We’ve got a fun evening coming up, and we’d love to invite you along!

Next Wednesday, January 14th 2026 at 7pm EST, We are giving a one-hour food photography lecture inside the BlueHour Virtual online school, run by photographer and educator Paul Nguyen.

BlueHour is best known for its landscape-focused community, which is part of what makes this interesting—we’ll be talking about food photography through the shared language of light.

A quick note on logistics, just so everything’s clear: this lecture is part of BlueHour’s ongoing programming. It isn’t a standalone free event, but BlueHour does offer a 7-day free trial, so you can join, attend the lecture, look around if you’d like, and then decide whether it’s something you want to continue with. After the trial, membership is $22/month, entirely optional.

Why we’re excited about this….
We love situations where different photographic worlds overlap. Landscapes, portraits, still life, food—it all comes back to learning how to see and work with light. This evening is about curiosity, cross-pollination, and trying something a little outside your usual lane in a welcoming environment.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, we’d love to see you there.
If you’re also curious about BlueHour beyond this talk, you can explore here: https://www.skool.com/bluehour/about -Just hit that free trail button!

As always, thanks for being part of our community.
Hope to see you Wednesday night, cheers!
Donna & Scott
