We said goodbye to a member of our family, and now we have a hole in our home and our hearts. Tila, AKA Tila T, T, Teeter, Teeter Weeter Pumpkin Eater, and Lil Stank, was a package deal with Andy when we started dating almost 14 years ago. Early on in knowing her, she ate 2 of my Fitbits, chewed my ponytail, and burned my foot with an egg roll (long story). She also used to lie on her side and push me with all four legs so she could be closer to Andy and move me away. Andy always corrected me when I referred to him as her dad. That wasn’t their relationship, he said. They were PICs. Partners in crime. Once she realized I wasn’t going anywhere, she accepted me, and we spent the last decade plus loving each other. When we brought Henry home, she wanted nothing more than to be by his side. We discouraged her from licking his hands and face, but she’d do ‘drive by lickings,’ getting in a quick taste of that sweet baby skin as she darted past too fast to be chastised. She was never the most obedient dog, but I’ve never met a sweeter dog. The biggest threat you’d face with her is being licked incessantly. It was fitting that as Andy and I held her and told her we loved her in her final moments, she didn’t stop giving us puppy kisses until she was gone. Our house will never be the same without her. But we’re so grateful for the many years she gave us.
