Charlie, Class of 2027

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this guy is graduating!! 🎓

I babysat him a time or two when he was little, and now here we are taking his senior photos. How is that even possible?! And seriously - WHAT. A. GUY. he has grown into. I could not have been more impressed by him. 👏🏻

Charlie is the most genuinely kind and easy-going human, making our time together such a breeze! He was game for every idea I threw his way, and I love that he brought along his ball and mitt to personalize things.⚾️

So proud to know and photograph you, Charlie!! Congratulations on your senior year!!

Fall in Kansas City is officially my favorite time of year!! The pumpkin patches, fall festivals, apple picking, cozy sweaters, cooler weather—I love it all. And of course, I’m a fan of all the fall family photoshoots. ;)

This October, I’m extra grateful for KC Parent Magazine!! It’s not every day you get to see one of your photos on the cover of a magazine! :)

Before Malachi was born, I fully planned to take a couple months away from behind the camera (at least when it came to photographing others). But soon after he arrived, I realized I didn’t want that to happen.

Not because I felt like I had to work or had to say yes, but because I genuinely love getting to be part of other people’s meaningful seasons too. Babies are born. Kids grow. Families change. And I haven’t wanted to miss the chance to help preserve those moments for my people.

It has made me think a lot about why I love photography so much in the first place. And at the end of the day, it’s all about the relationships. 🤍

Photography gives me such a unique opportunity to connect with people. To encourage them. To speak life over them. To help them feel beautiful and affirmed.

But maybe my favorite part is getting to hold up a mirror to families and show them what I get to see. I get to show a mom what her baby looks like wrapped up in her arms—the tenderness, the safety, the way they look at her like she is their whole world.

I get to show a dad the joy on his kids’ faces when he makes them laugh.

I get to show husbands and wives that somewhere in the middle of the noise, the schedules, the little hands pulling at them, and all the beautiful chaos of raising a family—their love for each other is still there. Still visible. Still worth celebrating.

So much of family life is lived too close to see it clearly.

I think that’s why I love photography.

For a little while, I get to step outside of it all and reflect back to people just how beautiful their ordinary, everyday life really is.

And getting to give someone that gift will never get old. 🫶

SO much love for this family!!! I had the privilege of teaching 3 of their 4 kids, and now I claim them as friends!! They love Jesus so much and go above and beyond to be His hands and feet in their community. I always say, “I want to be like the Partins when I grow up.” So thankful for you guys! I don’t know how it happened, but this beauty was once upon a time in my 3rd grade class. 🫶 Now she is all grown up and graduated!! 👏🏼 I went from teaching her multiplication to photographing her as a senior. What a GIFT!!

Lydia Partin was precious inside and out at age 8, hilarious, creative, passionate, and ridiculously fun. She has only grown more beautiful in every way. So proud of you, Lydia!! Your heart for the Lord and people is so genuine and inspirational. Thank you for the gift of watching you grow!!

Extended family photos are always a massive accomplishment - especially when they take place at 7:30am on the SAME day as a family wedding. I mean, WOW. Talk about ambitious!!!! But the Winkley crew pulled it off with smiles all around!!!   So much joy and love in these photos. And I’m not sure you can gather up a cuter crew of littles. Ya’ll are truly blessed!!

Happy Saturday!! ☀️ If you have been thinking about booking photos for June, now is the time! It’s getting warm, and with baby boy coming in T minus 7 weeks, I will not be booking for July! 🫶
