A little appreciation post !!
Most of you know that this past year has been one of the hardest seasons of my life. At one point, I came dangerously close to losing everything I had worked so hard to build with this business.
And while I am incredibly grateful to still be doing what I love, I would be lying if I said I was completely happy with where I am right now.
Some days are harder than others. Some days I walk into my new studio and can’t help but compare it to what I once had. I think about everything I lost, everything I had to leave behind, and everything I’ve had to start over with. There are days when the setbacks, the constant roadblocks, and the everyday struggles make me question whether I have it in me to keep going.
And then there’s the industry itself. Photography has become so incredibly saturated. Every time I open social media, there’s someone offering free sessions, someone advertising AI-generated images, or someone who just picked up a camera and decided to start a business.
I’ve spent over 10 years building this business from absolutely nothing. Photography isn’t just something I do. It’s something I genuinely love. It’s a huge part of who I am. And I think that’s what scares me the most sometimes , the thought that I might not get to do this forever.
But then something happens.
I open my email and see bookings coming through. And I recognize the names. The families who have been coming to me for years. The parents who trusted me with their newborns and are now bringing those same babies back for birthday pictures. The people who have watched me grow, watched me struggle, watched me start over, and still continue to choose me.
And that’s when it becomes real, I know times are hard. I know some families have to save and sacrifice to have their memories captured. I know there are a hundred other photographers they could choose from, some probably cheaper, some offering more. But they still choose me.
They choose my work. They believe in me !
I don’t think those clients will ever truly understand what that means to me. Especially now.
There are days when I feel defeated, when I question everything, and when giving up honestly feels easier than continuing to fight. But then I see those familiar names!!!
I’m not where I used to be, and I’m not where I want to be, this is simply just a detour!
So to every single client who has stuck by me, booked another session, recommended me to a friend, shared my work, even people who have never booked but comment words of support and love! I see you !
You have no idea how many times you’ve given me the motivation to keep going when I needed it most.
This business may look a little different these days, but the love I have for what I do hasn’t changed.
And as long as I can, I’m going to keep fighting for it.
