Caught mid-flight over Harns Marsh Preserve on May 16th, 2026 - an adult Snail Kite, its plumage a rich brown against the lighter hues of its head, carries two Apple snails in talons. A Boat-tailed Grackle hot on its heels, wings spread wide with intent to steal. The marsh vegetation glimmers gold beneath the sun's light, reflecting off the kite's gleaming feathers.

Did you know that Snail Kites have been known to mate for life? πŸ’™πŸ¦’

Lakes Park, May 25th, 2026. Was there something in the water today? This White Ibis seemed to dance on wings painted with sunlight against a sky so blue it could've been borrowed from an artist's palette. Armed with my Sony a6700 and Sony 200-600, I captured this striking flight, feeling as if I was bearing witness to a private ballet.

Did you know that White Ibises are social birds? They feed in large groups and share their findings to maximize their food intake! It's moments like these that make us appreciate the beauty hidden within our local parks.
