The journey of losing a child is never one thing. It isn’t black or white, even gray and it certainly isn’t simple. It’s every color imaginable woven together into a beautiful, heartbreaking, impossible mess of love, grief, hope, and longing.
From the moment I met this family, I could feel the depth of their love. Their session was held in honor of their sweet daughter, and there were moments that brought me to tears behind my camera and while editing. You could see it.
Many tears were shed, but so many beautiful moments were shared as well. Moments filled with an unbreakable bond of a family carrying their angel with them every single day.
I felt incredibly honored to be trusted with these memories and to spend time with such a beautiful family. I spent days carefully hand-creating a silhouette that I hoped would perfectly represent their daughter and allow her presence to be felt throughout these images.
Some sessions are about capturing smiles.
Some are about preserving a legacy.
This one was about love, a love so deep that not even heaven could separate it.
