"We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."

Sometimes the most memorable travel stops aren’t famous landmarks—they’re places you discover by slowing down and taking the back roads.

On a quiet drive through rural Georgia, I came across the historic Crossroads Store, a reminder of a time when country stores served as the heart of small communities. With its weathered character and timeless charm, it felt like stepping into a different era.

Places like this tell the story of everyday America—one front porch, one conversation, and one small town at a time.

“Climb high enough, and you’ll find a whole new perspective.” 🌄
From the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, the world stretches out in every direction—rugged coastline, endless forest, and ocean meeting sky. It’s one of those views that makes you pause, breathe a little deeper, and take it all in.
This is what I love about reaching the top… not just the view, but the feeling that comes with it.

“Sometimes you have to walk through the shadows to truly appreciate the light beyond.” 🌊
From inside a lava tube on Maui in Hawaii, the dark, rugged rock frames a breathtaking view of the ocean just beyond. It’s a striking contrast—ancient volcanic pathways opening to endless blue water and sky.
Moments like this remind me that the journey isn’t always bright and easy… but the view waiting on the other side makes it all worthwhile.

"Sometimes the most beautiful places are the ones hidden just off the main road."

Georgia may not be the first state that comes to mind when you think of covered bridges, but two of its most charming historic treasures can be found along quiet country roads. In my latest blog, I visit the picturesque Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge and the historic Auchumpkee Creek Covered Bridge, exploring their history, scenic surroundings, and why these landmarks are worth adding to your next back roads adventure.

"The most meaningful journeys often take us beyond what we think we know."

Before visiting Appalachia, I had heard the stereotypes. But driving deep into the hollers of southern West Virginia told a very different story.

A holler is more than a geographic feature tucked between steep mountainsides. It's a place where generations of families built lives, communities, traditions, and resilience. While poverty and hardship are part of the region's history, they are only part of the story.

In my latest post, I share what I learned while traveling through the hollers of Appalachia—how the landscape shaped the culture, why these communities developed the way they did, and why the stereotypes often miss the deeper reality.
If you've ever wanted to understand Appalachia beyond the headlines, this journey is for you.

What is a holler? Discover the geography, culture, isolation, and resilience of Appalachian hollers through a reflective drive into real Appalachia beyond the stereotypes.

“Every path you take has a story—cross it with intention.” 🌉
Tucked into the quiet countryside of Vermont, the charming Lincoln Covered Bridge feels like a step back in time. Surrounded by trees and flowing water, it’s the kind of place where history and nature come together in the most peaceful way.
This is what I love about the back roads… finding places that don’t just connect destinations, but connect you to a different pace of life.

"The best views come after you take the road less traveled." — Unknown

They don't call it the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" for nothing. Standing at the edge of Waimea Canyon on Kauai, I was amazed by the deep red cliffs, rugged valleys, and layers of green stretching toward the horizon. Every overlook revealed a different perspective, proving that some landscapes are far more impressive in person than any photograph can capture.
Whether you're exploring Kauai for the first time or returning to discover more of its beauty, Waimea Canyon is one of those places that deserves a spot on every itinerary. It's a reminder that nature creates masterpieces on a scale we can barely imagine.
Have you visited Waimea Canyon, or is it still on your travel bucket list?
