“Leave a piece of your story behind.”
One lock at a time.

The lock arch (love arch) at Baker’s Cay in Key Largo, Florida is a reminder of that.
Each lock marks a moment—something worth remembering, something worth holding onto.

And maybe that’s what travel is really about.

“The best part of the journey isn’t always the destination… it’s the moments you pause to take it in.”

This balcony at Baker's Cay Resort in Key Largo became one of those pauses—watching the water, listening to the breeze, and letting the day unfold slowly.

Exactly how travel should feel.

“The journey not the arrival matters.” — T.S. Eliot

When most people think of Florida, they picture beaches.
But just a short drive away is a completely different world—one filled with wetlands, wildlife, and quiet beauty that feels untouched.

The Everglades turned out to be one of the most unique stops on our winter road trip.

I’ve put together a guide to some of the highlights we experienced along the way—from scenic boardwalks to wide open views across the “River of Grass.”

“Collect moments, not things.”

This one came with palm shade, ocean air, and a front-row seat to doing absolutely nothing.
And honestly… that might be the best kind of moment there is. Tiki hut at Baker's Cay Resort, Key Largo.

“Go where you feel most alive.”

For me, it’s places like this—where the water turns shades of blue you didn’t know existed and the only sound is the gentle rhythm of the gulf.

Baker’s Cay is one of those spots that makes you pause… and stay a little longer than planned. This was a beautiful place to stay if you are ever in Key Largo.

Exploriong Key Largo by bike ended up being one of the best decisions we made.
Between the wide path along Route 1, easy access to parks, and stops for coffee, lunch, and even unexpected wildlife… it completely changed how we experienced the area.
Not every ride was scenic — but every ride added something to the day.

Key Largo was supposed to be a stop.

It turned into one of the most memorable parts of our Florida Keys trip.

From quiet hammock trails and Gulf Coast mornings to unexpected manatee sightings and some of the best food truck stops we found along the way… this place had a little bit of everything.

Sometimes the best places aren’t the ones you plan the most — they’re the ones where you slow down long enough to really experience them.

Have you been to Key Largo, or is it still on your list? Please comment below. Full story in bio.
