Nature and wildlife photography have interested me since I was young. Ron Austing called " I Went to the Woods". His story of falconry, raptors and nature photography is still on my bookshelf today. Over the years I have photographed a diversity of subjects but bird and waterfowl photography is my passion. Living in Louisiana allows me to photograph a diverse population of birds as my subjects, fr

om hummingbirds, to warblers and raptors. My images have been publsihed on several calendars, magazine and books, to include the Tennessee Conservationist, and Louisiana Conservationist calendar . I have donated several images to graduate students for there presentations and various other organizations. Edtiors, and publishers with nature photography needs are invited to view my images at this site. Other stock images are available and a list can be provided upon request. For publication I sell one time, North American usage rights. Every day in the field is a learning experience and I feel very fortunate to be able to enjoy the natural world. I look forward to sharing my insights into the world of nature with you. Please contact me if you have any questions at [email protected]

What’s more “Louisiana” then a Brown Pelican?! These guys are the
state bird of Louisiana and are unique among the world's seven species of pelicans. The brown pelican can be found along the ocean shores and not on inland lakes. It is the only dark pelican, and also the only one that plunges from the air into the water to catch its food.

Available for purchase at Treasure Chest in Alexandria or at Jim E. Johnson Nature Photography website.

Pouldeau- The American Coot is a distant relative of ducks, and have large lobed scales on there feet to facilitate walking on land, versus webbed feet that are found on ducks. Often found in large rafts in the winter they can all disappear in a second if an eagle is in the area.

We have this beautiful set of song birds available at Treasure Chest. They are matted in a unique linen textured mat. These would make a perfect collage or would even be beautiful featured alone. They are all photograph here locally in the heart of Cenla by Jim E. Johnson Nature Photography and they are at a Steal for only $45.00 a frame! 😱😱😱.

We gave Jim E. Johnson Nature Photography booth a little facelift yesterday and he restocked some more matted prints. Come visit all the vendors this week at Treasure Chest in Alexandria.

Happy to see this page.
Thank you so much , as they are birds we in Australia would never see , wonderful photography cheers ##
Love this page, Jim.
Incredible Jim. Your work is absolutely amazing.
Jim, your birds are the most awesome I have seen. My grandfather used to take my family for a Sunday ride and he would say "hear that? It's a Cardinal (or whatever it was). That fascinated me and now I find myself in the woods listening and looking for birds. The color you capture is out of this world. Some day I hope to be that good.
Very nice.
