Today I'm trying to work, but mostly... I'm remembering Lauren Hallman. 💔

She came across my path two years ago when a friend reached out and asked if she could pay for Lauren to have a photo session since she had been diagnosed with a severe illness. I was grateful to tell her about the Beth-Elle Memorial Fund, which allowed me to gift her a session at no cost.

I always make a point to connect with my clients beforehand, and the little bit that I got to know Lauren, her warmth and love for her family came across loud and strong.

"I want them to have something.... just in case." 😭

It doesn't always make sense who gets to stay and who has to go.

In so many ways, it would be easier if she weren't such an amazing mother and wife. It's easier to let someone go if the attachment isn't so strong. But for Lauren... I would venture to say, that's a void that will be felt for a lifetime.

It hurts because you were loved.
And ultimately, because you loved so well.

A little update for you, my friends. I am almost completely booked this fall. 🥳 I have two spots left in October and two in November. None of them are weekend spots.

Does this mean every day for me is filled with photo sessions? No.
I intentionally only take on a certain number of sessions so that I have rain dates available for my clients AND so I won't become a phantom mom during this busy season.

Hey guys, we're not doing so hot right now. It's a sad time when someone gets killed and everyone immediately starts jumping down each other's throats. 🫣

But have you noticed what is being shared over and over?

So this is me quietly saying... that photo session you've been putting off?

Waiting until someone’s hair grows out.
Worrying it’s not in the budget right now.
IT MATTERS.

I sincerely hope you're never in the category of losing someone unexpectedly, but I've walked with too many families who were.
