Oregon Mustang Group

Oregon Mustang Group A family friendly page about Oregon's wild mustangs. An informative, nonpolitical, and family friendly page, highlighting the wild horses and HMAs of Oregon.

Oregon Mustang group/OMG is managed through the collaborative efforts of a number of photographers who frequent the various herd management areas of the state. Current OMG Members:
Photographers belong to this group: Barbara Wheeler, Sue Winslow, Linda Hay, Carolyn Edson, Debra McGuire, Barb Hallowell Cady, Ginger Harter, Alice McCammon, Larry Mcferrin, Terrie Mcferrin, John Wheland, Kathryn Whel

and, Beverly Shaffer, Kathy Telechea, Terry Smith, Judy Simons, Sonia Beltran, and Sonya Spaziani. This page is managed through the collaborative efforts of various photographers who frequent the herd area. Oregon Mustang Group (OMG) is a non-political group created for the mustangs, the readers, and the observers- professional and casual. SSWH is a holistic approach covering many aspects of the HMA, and even broader in the sense of the world of wild horses. Focus of this page through photo albums will highlight individual animals, bands, range elements, and historical and possible genetic links. Other albums will have adoptable horses currently at the corrals, adoption information, along with special events like the Mustang Million, Extreme Mustang Makeover, etc. OMG was created to benefit, through the networking and interfacing of various long-term photographers- to use in multiple applications – such as utilizing observation accounts, and research in the pristine high deserts in the northern Great Basin region of SE Oregon. OMG is cooperatively managed by a core group of dedicated dynamic photographers with varying ideologies, who have observed these mustangs for a number of years- tracking whereabouts, and piecing together shared information for a complete look at wild American mustangs. Information was often shared, but it became apparent there needed to be a page bringing the photographers together in one place, compiling images and information, where they could share their HMA and HA findings with one another and the public. The photographers utilize one another's information to help fill in the blanks between visits to better understand specific behaviors and movements of individual horses, social order within bands, and the herd as a whole. This is accomplished effectively through information sharing. OMG page is conducted on a professional, non-political level. Only horse and range talk, photos, and information exchange will be found here. Through information exchange, regular photographers and field observers benefit. We also expect our visitors to this page to benefit by learning through this exchange and images of our treasured herd. Oregon BLM may also utilize this exchange of information and photos for wild horse management. The mustangs, of course also benefit through progressive management, and public awareness. The OMG photographers brave all kinds of challenges on the high desert to bring you and your family a view of America's wild west and the northern Great Basin. Though we have varying opinions and ideologies, we respect one another’s beliefs. This page was designed to integrate all and to be nonpolitical- informational only. Therefore is not the forum for political debate. For requests for specific images, the photographer name is on the photo and you can send us a message with attention to the specific photographer.
