I recently visited the Bisti Badlands in New Mexico. I had one night and not much time to prepare. After scouting a few compositions during my afternoon hike, I set out into the night to shoot what I had found. This was the first of 6 compositions I had chosen. This is the only image I came away with, as the clouds rolled in and blocked the night sky. I know what to do when I return, and I hope to come away with many more images next time(weather permitting).

What you cant see is the mud she had to run through to to get this shot in the last few minutes of sunset. It was totally worth it though, wouldn't you agree?

I stayed a couple nights in Terlingua on my recent visit to Big Bend. The Buzzards Roost has three beautiful tipis to stay in, where you can sleep under the darkest night sky in the lower 48.
