🌿 Behind the Lens: A Glimpse Into the Soul of a Victorian Dream 📷
A few weeks ago, I found myself wandering the halls of Moody Gardens, not expecting that a spontaneous IMAX visit would stir something so deep in me. The feature was about 19th-century Impressionist art—a movement that has always tugged at my creative heart. But it wasn’t just the brushstrokes of Monet or Renoir that captivated me this time. It was a moment. A song.
As the scenes on screen danced with color and light, the hauntingly beautiful voice of Nana Mouskouri filled the theater. The song was “Ce Sera Moi”, a French ballad from the 80s by the legendary Greek artist. One lyric lingered in my mind long after:
“When you will hear the wind in the valley, after I am gone… it will be me. It will be me.”
Something about that lyric—soft as a whisper, yet heavy with meaning—brought the world of the Victorians alive in my mind. I imagined lace gloves and locked diaries, secret garden paths and love letters never sent. A time when emotion was restrained on the outside, yet burned passionately within.
That’s when the inspiration struck. I wanted to photograph that feeling.
Not just a dress or a pose, but a story—a whisper from the past. A soul captured in a gaze, a wind that still lingers through the trees.
And so, the Victorian-era photoshoot was born.
It wasn’t just about costumes or corsets. It was about channeling the echoes of another time, where beauty and melancholy held hands. A tribute to the quiet, eternal presence of those who came before us—and the art they left behind.
